Dear Parents and carers,
Welcome back to all our children, parents, and the entire Avanti Fields family!
As we come to the end of our first week back, I have been reflecting on the positivity, enthusiasm, and smiles that have filled our school. It has been wonderful to see the children return with such energy and excitement, ready to embrace the opportunities of a new school year.
This week has been our Mastering Me Week, where the children have focused on developing their resilience, positive learning behaviours, attitudes towards others, and a deeper understanding of the Avanti Way. These important values underpin everything we do and help our children grow into confident, compassionate, and successful learners.
Alongside this, the children have enjoyed some fantastic enrichment opportunities designed to build confidence and encourage them to try something new. Our Early Years children took part in an energetic Wake and Shake workshop, while children in Years 1 to 4 had an opportunity to experience archery, developing their focus, perseverance and teamwork.
It has been a truly positive start to the term, and I would like to thank all of our families for your continued support. We look forward to another exciting week of learning, discovery, and growth together

Magical Moments
Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

Reception Parent/ Carer Reading workshop
On 3rd September, 3.00pm–3.30pm, we are inviting all Reception parents and carers to join us for our Reading Workshop.
This workshop is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about how we support your child’s reading journey at Avanti Fields. We will share information about our approach to early reading, the strategies we use in school and how you can support your child’s reading development at home.
We look forward to welcoming you and working together to help your child develop a love of reading.
Once you have collected your child at 2.45pm, please make your way to the school office to sign in for the event.
Summer Reading Challenge 2026
Congratulations to Saanvi in Beech Class (Year 4) and Shivansh in Daffodil Class (Year 2) for completing the Summer Reading Challenge ‘Read to the Beat’ at Leicester Libraries. We are very proud of your effort and commitment to reading during the summer holidays.
Car Park Passes
Thank you to all parents of children in Pre-School, Reception and Year 1 who are already displaying their Car Park passes, allowing a smooth movement of cars within the car park every day. Please may we remind any parents who have not obtained their Car Park pass to do so promptly.
Reading at Home and Reading Records
Please click on the link below to remind you of how to complete your child’s / children's reading records. The video is in English and Gujarati.
Attached are 2 photos of parental comment examples. The first picture is for parents who feel confident recording in English. The second picture is for non-English speaking parents – we would be grateful if you would write the date, copy the name of the storybook and page numbers.

This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.
Rights Respecting School information
Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

Article of the Week 1 (Every Child Has Rights)
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a list of rights that belong to every child, everywhere in the world. Rights are things that children need to grow, learn, be safe, and be healthy.
Article 1 reminds us that everyone under the age of 18 is a child and has these rights. No matter who they are, where they live, what they look like, or what they believe, every child has rights that should be respected and protected.
As we begin a new school year, this Article helps us understand that rights belong to all children and that we also have a responsibility to respect the rights of others.
Why it's important
It helps children understand that they have rights and that these rights belong to every child.
It encourages respect, fairness, and inclusion for everyone.
It teaches children that all people should be treated with dignity and kindness.
Learning about rights helps children become confident, responsible, and active citizens.
At Home Activity:
Create a "Rights Hand"
Draw around your hand on a piece of paper and cut it out.
On each finger, write or draw something that children need to grow and thrive, such as being safe, learning, playing, being healthy, or having a family that cares for them.
In the centre of the hand, write: "Every child has rights."
Talk together about why these rights are important and how we can help respect the rights of others at home, school, and in our community.
Challenge: Decorate your hand with pictures, colours, or symbols that represent what makes you unique, remembering that every child has rights, no matter who they are.
