Primary Parent's Bulletin 08.05.26

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and carers,

I would like to take a moment to share how incredibly proud I am of our Year 3 pupils, who recently took part in a cross-village collaborative singing performance. This special event, centred around Earth Day, highlighted the importance of caring for our world and showing compassion towards all living beings.

Our pupils demonstrated remarkable courage in performing in front of a wider audience, and their commitment to learning and mastering such challenging songs was truly inspiring. Through perseverance, teamwork, and dedication, they rose to the occasion beautifully. They embodied our school values and the Avanti Way, showing not only musical talent but also deep thoughtfulness about the message behind their performance. It was a joy to see them grow in confidence and pride.

I would also like to reflect on the many wonderful trips our children have experienced so far this term. From our Reception children’s exciting visit to the farm, to Year 1’s engaging trip to the Sea Life Centre and their visit to ISKCON, as well as the fantastic Jungle Jo experience enjoyed by both Year 1 and Year 2 at the start of term, these opportunities bring learning to life in such meaningful and memorable ways.

These experiences are invaluable in broadening our children’s horizons, enriching their understanding of the world, and sparking curiosity and joy in their learning. We are incredibly grateful that we are able to offer such opportunities, and this is only possible through your continued support and contributions. Thank you for enabling us to provide these enriching experiences for all of our pupils.

On the week beginning 18th May, our amazing Year 2 pupils will be completing their KS1 SATs. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them the very best of luck. These assessments are a wonderful chance for children to showcase all that they have learned and the progress they have made throughout Key Stage 1. We encourage our pupils to approach them with confidence and a positive mindset, seeing them as an opportunity to celebrate their achievements. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and resilience, and we know they will do their very best.

Warm regards,

 Ms. A Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Sunflower

In Sunflower room this week we have been creating our own printed artwork all about wild and wonderful animals that are found in the African wilderness with our silhouette painting. We cut out our own animals and used our fingers and hands to create a beautiful background.

Preschool

Preschool have been learning to link numbers to amounts. The children had a go at showing the right number of animal counters to match numbers up to 6.

Reception

Reception Class have had a wonderful time last week on their trip to the farm. We learnt about the lifecycle of a chick and talking about the names of farm animals and their young. We also talked about the role of different animals on the farm and what they produce.

Year 1

Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Sea Life Centre. They explored a variety of sea creatures and learned lots about life under the sea. The children showed great curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the visit and have enjoyed writing their recounts in English.  It was a truly special and a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Year 2

Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful workshop with a Nutritionist as part of Science and DT.

The children used their senses to describe different fruits and vegetables and enjoyed tasting the delicious foods such as Kiwi and Pepper. To end their workshop they used sliced potato and colourful paint to print their own creative designs!

Year 3

Year 3 had a great gardening session with our PTFA volunteers for Earth Day. We planted our own sunflowers and even planted our own vegetables such as tomatoes! We can’t wait to look after them and see them grow!

 Science week

Week commencing 15th June, we will be celebrating Science Week! 🔬✨

This will include a special dress-up day to end the week on Friday 19th June, where children are invited to come dressed as a scientist, inventor, or anything science-related.

What will you come as? You could dress as a scientist, astronaut, doctor, robot, animal, or even a planet!  There will also be a best dressed competition for each year group, so get creative!

Throughout the week, we will be taking part in some fun, hands-on science activities, exploring, experimenting, and discovering together.

It’s set to be an exciting week full of curiosity and learning!

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

Rights Respecting School information

Rights Respecting Article of the week: Article 28 – The Right to Education

Every child has the right to an education. This means children should be able to go to school, learn in a safe environment, and receive support to achieve their full potential. Schools should be accessible to all children, and discipline in schools must respect children’s dignity and rights.

Why it matters:

Article 28 matters because education is essential for children’s growth, confidence and future opportunities. When children have access to good-quality learning, they gain knowledge, skills and the chance to shape their own future. Without education, children may face barriers in later life and be unable to fully develop their talents. As a Rights Respecting School, promoting the right to education helps make sure every child can learn safely, feel supported, and experience success in their learning journey.

Athome activity:

Create a “Learning Helps Me Grow” poster, paragraph, or short video. Choose one subject or learning activity you enjoy and explain how it helps you develop new skills. Then describe how this links to Article 28 and why it is important that all children, everywhere, can access education. You can also include ideas about how your school supports the right to education for every pupil.
