Head of Secondary's Message
As we move through the summer term, I would like to take a moment to celebrate some of the wonderful opportunities and achievements that our students have experienced in recent weeks.
A huge thank you goes to the Careers team – Dr Sangar, Mrs Sembi and Mr Khabra for their work in coordinating the Year 10 Work Experience programme. Once again, our students have represented the school extremely well, and we have received very positive feedback from employers regarding their professionalism, enthusiasm and conduct. Work experience plays an important role in helping students develop confidence, independence and a greater understanding of future career pathways. We look forward to hearing more about student experiences when they return to school next week.
We are also grateful to Mr Fairclough for organising the recent visit to the Holocaust Centre. This was a powerful and thought-provoking experience for our students, providing an opportunity to deepen their understanding of an important part of history and supporting their learning beyond the classroom. Educational visits such as this enrich our curriculum and help bring learning to life.
We are incredibly proud of our students who have recently completed and passed their piano grading examinations with merits. Achieving grades ranging from Grade 1 through to Grade 7 is a fantastic accomplishment and reflects many hours of dedication, practise and perseverance. Congratulations to all of our successful students on this wonderful achievement.
As we enter the final half term of the academic year, there are still many exciting opportunities ahead for our students. The weeks ahead are filled with enrichment activities, student leadership opportunities, educational visits and many sport opportunities. We encourage all students to participate fully and become involved in the wider life of the school. These experiences play a vital role in developing character, confidence and resilience, whilst also supporting students' spiritual insight and personal growth. We look forward to celebrating the many achievements and memorable experiences that this final half term will undoubtedly bring.

Avanti International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day is an opportunity to share that conviction with the nation and we invite your school to be part of it. A live, 30-minute yoga session led by one of our specialist Yoga teachers, uniting hundreds of young people across British Primary Schools together on International Yoga Day.

Art Department Update
Over the Summer term the Art Department will be celebrating and sharing student work with you in the newsletter. This week we begin our celebrations with the work of 3 young men who have worked hard to complete their GCSE in Art. Their work showcases their personal interests from geography to fragrance! The work is by Satish, Ansh P and Tanveer. You will be able to see the artworks in person alongside the rest of the GCSE Art work in our Summer Art Exhibition on 20th August (GCSE Results day) at school.
Gratitude Club Updates
There were tears of joy as Year 11 students presented Avanti staff with beautiful gold leaf messages to thank them for their care, support and guidance throughout their school journey.
As part of the Gratitude Club, students reflected on the special people who have helped them along the way. Their messages were filled with appreciation for teachers and support staff who supported them in their learning and during more challenging times.
By the end of last half term, more than 96 gold leaves were written in just one day, with more than 85 created by Year 11 students. Despite a busy week of exams, some students even took a leaf away to write their message later. This was a wonderful example of gratitude in action, which is at the heart of the Avanti Way.
Each golden leaf carried words of thanks for the kindness, patience, encouragement and belief shown by staff every day. For many students, it was a meaningful way to recognise those who have helped them grow in confidence, resilience and hope.
As they prepare to begin a new journey, students wanted staff to know how much their care has positively impacted their lives.
The gold leaves became more than just messages; they were a beautiful reminder of the strong sense of community, compassion and connection within Avanti. They also showed the special bond between students and staff, and the lasting difference that kindness can make.
It was a truly moving moment and a privilege to witness such gratitude. We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and deeply grateful to all the staff who have supported them with care, compassion and dedication.
The gold leaves are displayed in classrooms, and a selection of these heartfelt messages can also be seen on the Gratitude Tree in the library.

PTFA Events
Summer Mela
The PTFA is delighted to announce our upcoming School Mela!
We warmly invite you to support us in making this a fun and memorable day for everyone. There will be a variety of stalls and exciting entertainment for children, including a funfair, as well as fire brigade and police demonstrations. A selection of food and ice cream will also be available.
All proceeds from the event will go directly back to supporting the school. We hope to see you there with your family and friends!

LEICESTER RATHAYATRA Festival of Chariots 2026
Join us on Sunday 28tth June 2026 as Leicester’s city centre comes alive with a joyful celebration of devotion and spirituality.
Experience the breath-taking sight of a majestic 40ft hand-pulled chariot carrying the magnificent Deities of Lord Jagannath (Krishna), Lord Baladeva, and Subhadra Devi.
The procession will journey from Leicester City Centre, along the famous Golden Mile, and into Cossington Park, accompanied by joyous music, traditional dancing, and devotional chanting.
