Head of Secondary's Message
As part of the Avanti Way, students have been taking part in Sanga sessions focusing on mindfulness, developing deep listening, empathy and mutual respect. Staff also recently took part in a Sanga session facilitated a team of trained staff, and we were pleased to receive very positive feedback. We hope to continue running staff Sanga sessions throughout the year, which in turn supports the calm and purposeful environment we strive to create for our students.
We would like to thank parents for their cooperation following recent reminders about safe drop-off and pick-up arrangements. To help keep all members of our community safe and ensure a smooth start and end to the school day, we ask that:
Parents continue to use park-and-stride arrangements
The school car park is not used for routine drop-offs or pick-ups
Vehicles do not stop at the roundabout near the police station
Your support in this area has already made a positive difference.

Year 11 Mock Interviews

On Tuesday 13th January, we hosted a highly successful Year 11 mock interview day, giving students valuable preparation for upcoming college and post-16 interviews. We were delighted to welcome around 30 parents and members of the wider school community, who generously volunteered their time to act as interviewers. Students took part in realistic interview scenarios, answering questions about their strengths, experiences, and future aspirations, before receiving constructive verbal feedback.
The day provided students with an insight into interview expectations, helping them to build confidence, practise professional communication, and reflect on areas for development. It also reinforced the importance of preparation, presentation, and self-reflection as part of their next steps.
We are extremely grateful to all our volunteers for their support in making this experience both meaningful and impactful for our Year 11 cohort.
'Macbeth’ in house Production - Thursday 22nd January
On Thursday 22nd January 2026, a theatre production of ‘Macbeth’ will be taking place in the main hall which will involve all Year 10 and 11 students at different times of the day. This is a very exciting event as it is rare for companies to come into school and conduct performances, so our students are very lucky to be involved, and your support is very much appreciated!

Year 10 workshop with Youth Services
On Monday 19th January, as part of the PSHE curriculum, Year 10 will be attending a workshop delivered by the Youth Service. The workshops are aimed to educate young people on the laws and effects of knife crime and to develop knowledge and safety. Subjects covered will include joint enterprise and the impact on victims, families and the wider society. We are very excited to welcome the Youth Workers into Avanti Fields and hope that the students find the workshops interact and informative.
