Head of Secondary's Message
Welcome back to all students and staff. I hope you and your families had a restful and enjoyable Easter break.
It has been a real pleasure to begin the new half term by supporting Mrs Kansara with the Head Boy and Head Girl interviews. We have been impressed by the thoughtfulness of their ideas and the way they all reflected the Avanti Way in their responses.
As we move into the summer term, we begin the GCSE examination season. This is an important time for our Year 11 students, and we thank you for your continued support at home in helping them to prepare, revise and stay focused. Our GCSE Spanish speaking exams are already underway and we wish all students the very best.
A reminder that Year 11 students will remain in school and attend all lessons up until the May half term. After this point, they will begin study leave, using their time to prepare for their remaining examinations. Further details regarding the study leave arrangements and revision support have already been communicated to Year 11 parents and carers.
This week, our Year 8 students enjoyed the annual Avanti Quest residential to Radhadesh. These experiences are always a highlight of the year, supporting personal development, reflection and community. We look forward to welcoming students back and hearing about their experiences later today. A huge thank you to Miss Paik for her leadership of the Year 8 Avanti Quest residential along with Mr Khabra and the retreat team. Thank you also to Miss Blackshaw, Mr Thornton and Mrs Rampersad for their support and dedication ensuring that the experience was both enriching and memorable for all students.
We are also delighted that a group of our Year 10 students recently attended the Oxford Unlock residential supported by Mr Nassar – a fantastic opportunity designed to inspire ambition and raise aspirations for the future.
Looking ahead, this half term is a busy and exciting one, with a range of activities, workshops and trips planned. This includes work experience opportunities and our final parents’ evening of the academic year. Further details, including information about end of year trips and activities, will be shared with you in the coming weeks.
Warm regards
Ms N Kholia

Year 10 Unlock Oxford Residential: April 14th- April 15th

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of Year 10 students Tanish, Pia, Siya, Samraj, Harnum, Jiya, Manaank, Nimrit and Radhika, who recently took part in the two-day Unlock Oxford residential at Oxford University.
Hosted by St Edmund Hall, Unlock Oxford is a sustained outreach programme designed to raise aspirations, build students’ confidence in their academic potential and help them make informed choices about higher education and competitive university applications.
During the residential, students were given the opportunity to experience university life first-hand through a range of activities, including exploring the college, taking part in academic sessions, meeting current students and learning more about future pathways, including post-16 choices and university study.
This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience life at one of the world’s leading universities, meet other ambitious young people and begin to see higher education as an exciting and achievable future pathway. We are incredibly proud of the maturity, curiosity and enthusiasm they showed throughout the residential.
Our sincere thanks also go to Mr Nassar for accompanying the trip and supporting our students throughout the experience.
Avanti Fields' Got Talent 2026
The annual Avanti Fields talent show took place on Friday, 20th March. It was a resounding success, bringing together an impressive mix of creativity, confidence, and community spirit. Every performing student bravely expressed themselves in unique ways within a supportive atmosphere of celebration. In first place was Khushi D who displayed her breath taking works of art. A true masterpiece! In second place was girl group Sia R - T, Nidhi P, Reyna D and Koenaa P who performed an exceptional dance filled with energy. In third place was Hanaya K, who gave an impressive performance of classical music on the piano. All truly well deserved. A massive thank you to all staff and students who supported behind the scenes; it is sincerely appreciated.
