Primary Parent's Bulletin 05.12.25

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are well.

Since September 2024, I have had the privilege of supporting Krishna Avanti Primary School whilst continuing in my role here at Avanti Fields as Head of Primary. As you are aware, this arrangement was an interim solution to help both schools develop a more aligned approach.

I am pleased to share that the Trust is now moving forward with a long-term leadership model, which will include two separate Heads of Primary across our primary schools. As part of this structure, I will return to my substantive role as Head of Primary for Avanti Fields full time. A new Head of Primary will be appointed for Krishna Avanti, following the Trust’s recruitment process in the Spring term, at which time we will notify you when I transition back to Avanti Fields. This approach will further strengthen the provision in both schools and ensure continued, dedicated leadership as we move closer to becoming a full primary school.

Over the past year, we have worked hard to standardise our practice and continue to develop our Avanti village model. I am very proud of the progress we have made, and I look forward to seeing this vision grow even further in the months and years ahead.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Some exciting events coming up in December:

We are looking forward to another fun, family-friendly celebration!

House point updates:

ree

As part of our behaviour policy, we celebrate the virtues of The Avanti Way—such as respect, gratitude, self-discipline, and empathy. Pupils are awarded house points when they demonstrate these qualities in their daily lives. I am delighted to announce that this term’s winning house is Water!  Next week the winning house team will enjoy a special reward: the chance to celebrate their success by making their own milkshakes, well deserved after all their efforts this term.

Warm regards,

Ms. A Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Bhagavad Gita Jayanti

ree

This week celebrated Gita Jayanti, the anniversary of the day Sri Krishna spoke Bhagavad-gita to His friend Arjuna. Bhagavad refers to God, Krishna and Gita means song. Bhagavad-gita, therefore means the Song of God.

Arjuna presents himself to Krishna as someone who is confused about his duty, fearful of the future results of his work and full of grief anticipating the experience of loss. These emotions represent our human emotions that challenge us from time to time. Due to these emotions, decision making becomes a struggle and clear direction some what blurry. In Arjuna's situation, he called upon Krishna, who was right there with him and asked for His guidance. This guidance is captured in the 700 verses of the Bhagavad-gita as a manual for life, not only for Arjuna but for each and everyone of us. Krishna speak to us individual His personal instruction.

The wisdom Krishna speaks to Arjuna, is of five distinct subject matters. Our Year 1 students explored these five teachings:

  1. I am a little spark of life. (Jīva)

We are more than our physical appearance or mental capacity. The very essence of our self is spiritual, a spark of life that lives before and beyond the life of this body. We are eternal servants of God, Krishna.

  1. My actions make things happen. (Karma)

Our thoughts shape our actions. Once we desire to do something and act on it, we set into motion a chain of consequence and reaction. The quality of human consciousness depends on how responsible we become for our action. The more evolved we are, the more responsible we become. Krishna advises in the Gita to choose actions carefully and ensure they are not selfish or harmful but spiritual and uplifting.

  1. Nature is Krishna’s world. (Prakṛti)

This world is created by and belongs to God. It is offered to use as a resource for us to use and engage for acts of sacrifice, austerity and charity. The influence of nature impacts our choices. We can be inert in which we don't care for actions or their results. We can be selfish and don't care how our actions impacts others. Or, we can be thoughtful and considerate of making the right choices that are good for us and good for others.

  1. Time helps me grow. (Kāla)

With the rising of the sun and its setting, a day is lost. What did we do with the last 24hours? Time is the all-powerful energy of God that is gradually taking everything away. It is therefore, our most valuable resource. Daily we have 1440 minutes. Let's use them wisely in the pursuit of the eternal nature.

  1. Krishna guides everything. (Īśvara)

Krishna reveals the nature of God, He from Whom everything comes, in Whom everything rest and into Whom everything returns. Krishna is present in nature, lives in the heart of all beings, is worship in different sacred places and lives beyond this world in His eternal kingdom.

These 5 topics make up the subject matter of the Bhagavad-gita. If you're interested in learning more, in reading this great book or would like to take a course in it, please write to Mr Gajjar, our PRE lead on pgajjar@avanti.org.uk

School Council Update

What a pleasure it has been working alongside the school councillors this half term!

They have spoken in front of their peers in assembly to introduce themselves and have collated a list of their class’s opinions on lunchtimes to feed back to staff in order to improve their experiences at Avanti Fields.

Next half term, we will be assessing the impact of these suggestions for lunchtime and working on further goals linked to the WOW Walk to School initiative.
