Primary Parent's Bulletin 27.02.26

Head of Primary's Message

 Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to welcome everyone back for the Spring 2 term and hope you all had a restful break.

We have already kicked off the term with an exciting visit from our local Fire Service, who spoke to the children about the key fundamentals of fire safety. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about how to stay safe and were especially thrilled to see the fire engine up close!

This term promises to be another fun-filled and enriching one, with education brought to life through visitors, storytellers, themed drop-down days and, for some year groups, even an exciting trip. These experiences play such an important role in deepening children’s understanding and making learning memorable.

I would like to thank all parents in advance for your continued engagement and support with these events. It is this hands-on learning, supported both at school and at home, that truly helps embed knowledge and create lifelong memories for our children.

We look forward to a fantastic term ahead!

Looking Ahead: Special Events Next Week

Next week we will be celebrating Gaura Purnima alongside Reading Week. As these special events fall within the same week, there will be two dress-up days:

  • 3rd March – Gaura Purnima celebration and dress up

  • 5th March – World Book Day – dress up as your favourite book character

There will also be various opportunities for parents to engage with events during the week.

A gentle reminder to parents of children in Year 3: if you do not have a younger child in a lower year group, you are required to park and stride. Please do not use the school car park for any events. If you are asked to move your vehicle, this may result in you being late and therefore unable to attend the event.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in ensuring our events run smoothly for everyone.

Warm regards,

 Ms. A Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Sunflower

This week in Sunflower’s we got to join our classes and have a very exciting experience of watching the firefighters in action spraying their hose and hearing the loud sounds of the Fire engine.

Preschool

This week in pre-school we have been exploring and talking about 2D shapes. We named the shapes and described its properties. We had a go at finding different shapes in the environment.

Reception

This week in Reception was full of excitement as we welcomed some very special visitors! Our amazing firefighters came to see us and taught us all about fire safety. We learnt how to stay safe, what to do in an emergency, and how firefighters help people in our community.

Year 1

In PE, we have been practising how to hold a racket to help us with bat and ball games. We practised balancing a bean bag on our rackets with one hand and even tossed the bean bag on our rackets like a pancake!

Year 2

In Maths we have been exploring measuring the length and height of everyday objects. We were challenged with using rulers, tape measures and metre sticks to explore in our classroom. We found out that 100cm is equal to 1 metre. We love being Mathematicians!

Year 3

In PSHE, we have been looking at helpful and harmful things for our bodies. Can you create a poster of things which are helpful and harmful for our bodies, and explain why?

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

🌸 International Women’s Day 🌸

Rights Respecting Article of the week:  Article 2: Non-Discrimination

Every child has the same rights, no matter who they are, where they come from, what they believe, or whether they are a boy or a girl.

International Women’s Day helps us reflect on fairness, equality, and respect, celebrating the achievements of women while recognising the importance of equal opportunities for all.

Why it matters:

  • Everyone deserves to be treated fairly

  • Girls and boys should have the same opportunities

  • Respecting differences makes our communities stronger

At-home activity:

Talk together about inspirational women in your family, community, or history. Children could draw or write about a woman who inspires them and explain why.
