Executive Principal's Message

School Closure

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Due to the adverse weather conditions experienced overnight and early this morning, I made the decision to close both Avanti Fields School and Krishna Avanti Primary School.

This decision was taken following careful consideration of several factors, including early information shared by our lettings and premises teams last night, staff travel arrangements, and the availability of materials required to ensure the sites could be made safe for access, such as grit. In addition, both sites have experienced increased traffic in car parks and on surrounding roads throughout the week, which at times has created unsafe conditions.

I recognise that school closures are never an easy decision and can cause disruption for families. However, I felt it was important to communicate the closure as early as possible to allow families time to make alternative childcare arrangements and to minimise unnecessary travel in challenging conditions. This also enabled staff to use the morning productively to ensure learning resources were uploaded to TEAMS so that pupils’ learning could continue.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I am particularly mindful of the impact such decisions have on our working parents, and I am grateful for your cooperation as we prioritised the safety of our pupils, families, and staff.

Warm regards,

Ms. V Bardsley

Head of Primary's Message

Welcome Back to the Spring Term!

Dear Parents,

We are delighted to welcome you and your children back to the Spring term! It has been a wonderful start to the new term, and the children have returned with such enthusiasm and energy—it truly sets a positive tone for the months ahead.

This Monday, we enjoyed a very special event: a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience a traditional story brought to life through singing, acting, and creativity. Moments like these not only enrich their learning but also help instil a love for the arts and storytelling.

As we begin this new term, we continue to live and learn through the Avanti Way, nurturing curiosity, respect, and joy in every aspect of school life. The start of a new term is a perfect time for fresh beginnings, growth, and new experiences. As Lord Krishna reminds us, “Whatever happened, happened for the good. Whatever is happening, is happening for the good. Whatever will happen, will also happen for the good.”

We look forward to a term filled with learning, discovery, and memorable moments for all our children. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a vibrant and nurturing community.

Warm regards,

Ms. A Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Sunflower

In the Sunflower room this week we have been enjoying reading the Monkey Puzzle book whilst transitioning back to routine and accessing activities based on the story book.

Preschool

In Pre-school we have been exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We learned about the different things that the caterpillar ate and how he grew through the lifecycle of a butterfly.

Reception

In Reception, we have been learning all about dinosaurs. We learned about different dinosaurs and had fun acting like them by stomping our feet and making loud roars.

Year 1

The children loved becoming scientists in Science this week, identifying and classifying different materials. Then, they explored the classroom to discover which material was the most common.

Year 2

Year 2 have been exploring Money in our Maths lessons this week. They have recognised coins, counted out amounts in different ways and even challenged themselves with finding the correct amount of change. This has been a fun week of building on such important life skills such as paying for items, solving problems and saving our money.

Year 3

This week, Year 3 have been learning all about radial patterns and mandalas. We have created our own beautiful concentric patterns using different shapes.

WOW Walk to the school

We were very excited to welcome our WOW Walk to school Mascot to Avanti Fields Primary this week. Strider enjoyed greeting our families and thanking you all for your fantastic participation in the weekly Walk to school challenge. We are happy to announce that Year 1 children are now joining us in the weekly challenge and have made a fantastic start already. This challenge is aimed at Year 1,2 and 3, therefore if you travel to school ‘actively’ e.g. walk, scoot, ride or park and stride at least once a week for a whole month then you will be awarded with your monthly badge. We can do this! Happy active travelling everyone.

Stars of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

Rights Respecting Article of the week – Article 14: Freedom of Speech

Every child has the right to think and believe what they choose and also to practise their religion, as long as they are not stopping other people from enjoying their rights. Governments must respect the rights and responsibilities of parents to guide their child as they grow up. This links to Remembrance Day, when we honour those who have worked — and still work — to protect others and help make the world peaceful.

Why it matters:

  • Everyone has the freedom to think whatever they want

  • Everyone should be able to enjoy their rights

  • Different people have different beliefs

At-home activity:  List as many religions as you can think of. Do you know what symbols are linked with these religions? Have a go at drawing them if you can and perhaps create a display for your classroom or corridor over the weekend.
