Primary Parent's Bulletin 09.10.26
Head of Primary's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to personally thank you for the wonderful support you continue to show our school. As Headteacher, I truly value the strong partnership we have with our families, as we know that when home and school work together, our children thrive.
Next week, we will be having our first Parent Consultation evenings of this academic year. We look forward to welcoming all of you as you meet with your child / children’s class teacher(s) to discuss their progress within class. We cannot stress the importance of this discussion and the benefits of the home-school partnership.
Thank you once again for your continued support and partnership.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind Regards
Ms Thakore
Reminder : Car parking
We kindly ask parents to cooperate in parking safely and responsibly during drop off and pick up times.
Recently we have noticed an increase in congestion and inconsiderate parking around school gates along with Bhaktivedanta Marg which creates a serious safety risk for our pupils and wider community.
To help keep everyone safe and to ensure the smooth running of the school day, we kindly ask families to continue with their usual drop-off and collection routines (ONLY pre-school and Reception parents permitted to use the school car park for drop off and collection). In particular, we strongly encourage the continued use of park-and-stride arrangements, rather than attempting to drive into the school car park, turning into Bhaktivedanta Marg or attempting 3-point turns on the roads leading to the school.
Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support in keeping our school community safe.

African Drumming Workshop

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, all the children in school had a fantastic time during their African Drumming workshops. They showed great courage and self-discipline as they took part in this Experience Event. The children learnt about different drums from West Africa including the djembe, the bougarabou, the dunun and the talking drum. They also learnt to sing a short song in a West African dialect. These musical experiences play a vital role in each child’s learning at Avanti Fields and we are so proud of every class embraced the opportunity to learn a new skill.
Attendance
At Avanti Fields, we know that good attendance is key to helping children thrive and achieve their best.
This year, we will be recognising and celebrating children who achieve 100% attendance each half term with their classes. These pupils will receive special recognition in a whole-school assembly for their commitment to being in school every day and making the most of their learning opportunities.
In addition, three times a year, we will celebrate those children who achieve 100% attendance for a full term. To make these occasions even more special, parents and carers of these pupils will be invited into school to join the celebration and share in their child's achievement.
We look forward to working together to ensure every child has the best possible attendance and can enjoy all the opportunities school has to offer.
Diwali Celebrations 2026
We are delighted to be celebrating Diwali Week across the school and look forward to welcoming many of you to our special events.
Diwali, often known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most important festivals in Hinduism. It celebrates the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. At Avanti, our Diwali celebrations also help children learn about the teachings and pastimes of Lord Krishna, who is central to our school's ethos and values. Through stories, performances, workshops and celebrations, children will deepen their understanding of kindness, gratitude, courage and devotion while learning about this important festival.

Avanti Fields Joint Christmas Card Fundraising Project
This Christmas, our Avanti Fields Primary and Secondary schools are joining together for a special fundraising project! Pupils are invited to create their own Christmas artwork on A4 paper, which can then be turned into personalised Christmas cards and other gifts featuring their own designs. To take part, parents simply visit mycardproject.com/order, enter the code MCP6WQ, upload their child's artwork and share the link with friends and family so they can purchase cards and other items featuring the pupil's design. Please note that artwork must be uploaded and orders placed by 24 October. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated back to the schools. The Secondary School will use its share to support our chosen charities: The Local Goshalla, Action for Children and The Global Hindu Federation, while the Primary School will use its proceeds towards a charity of our choice that the children will vote for democratically in class. This is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to showcase their creativity while helping to raise money for our schools and wider community.
Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.
Article 28 the right to education. Article 28 reminds us that every child has the right to an education. Education helps children learn new skills, achieve their goals, and prepare for the future. Schools should be places where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn.
As we celebrate World Teacher Day on 5th October, we can take time to recognise and appreciate the important role teachers play in helping children learn, grow, and succeed. Teachers encourage us to try our best, believe in ourselves, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Why it's important:
It helps children understand that education is a right for every child.
It encourages children to value learning and new experiences.
It helps children develop the knowledge and skills they need for the future.
It reminds us to appreciate the teachers and adults who support our learning.
It inspires children to work hard and make the most of their opportunities.
At Home Activity:
Create a "Thank You, Teacher!" Learning Star
Draw and cut out a large star on a piece of paper.
In the centre of the star, write the name of a teacher or adult who helps you learn.
On each point of the star, write or draw:
Something you have learned this year.
A favourite lesson or activity.
A skill you have improved.
A challenge you have overcome.
A goal you would like to achieve in the future.
In the centre of the star, write:
"Education helps me learn, grow, and achieve my dreams."
