Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of the half term, I wanted to take a moment to share how incredibly proud I am of all our pupils. Each child is on their own personal growth journey, and it has been wonderful to see them demonstrate resilience, kindness, curiosity and a commitment to becoming the very best version of themselves.

This week has been particularly special as we celebrated Diwali together. It was a joy to see so many children enthusiastically engaging in the events, learning about the festival and taking part with such respect, gratitude and happiness. These experiences help bring the Avanti Way to life, nurturing not only academic success but also character, spiritual insight and a sense of community.

As Lord Krishna teaches in the Bhagavad Gita:

"Whatever action is performed by a great person, others follow; whatever standards they set, the world pursues." (Bhagavad Gita 3.21)

Our children continue to set wonderful examples through their actions each day, and we are grateful for the support and partnership of our families in helping them flourish.

I wish you all a happy, peaceful and restful half-term holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting half term.

Staff update

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Desai for her support and work in Year 1 this half term. We wish her the best of luck with her future endeavours.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind Regards

Ms Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Sunflower room

In the Sunflower Room we have been enjoying trying new

foods and cooking.  We have made lots of delicious things

together including pizza, pasta and biscuits.

Preschool

Pre-school have enjoyed celebrated Diwali, we have been exploring how to create rangoli patterns using different materials and media. What a fun way to get creative!

Reception

Reception Class enjoyed a special week of Diwali celebrations. They performed a magical Diwali song for their parents, grandparents and even some uncles and aunties! We ended the day with a Diwali workshop where we enjoyed many Diwali themed activities with our special grown-ups.

Year 1

Year 1 have enjoyed painting their Rangoli patterns for their Diwali performance and have shown great creativity and care in their artwork. Bluebells have also had a wonderful time in Forest School, where they enjoyed making seasonal mobiles using natural materials they collected outdoors.

Year 2

Year 2 had an amazing time linking our Historical learning with Science by participating in a ‘Fire experiment’. We were visited by Scientists from Far, Far, Away who helped us to identify which materials could burn easily. We discovered why the fire spread so easily during the Great Fire of London in 1666, since the houses were all made out of wood! We are fantastic Scientists!

Year 3

Year 3 enjoyed composing different African Beats in our African Drum session with Mele! They had a go at playing different beats and rhythms and even sang some catchy tunes! 😊

Year 4

Year 4 enjoyed an African Drumming session last week 😊

This year we have had a wonderful time celebrating Diwali at school. Each year group also had their own individual celebrations.

Pre-School Pre-school had their first parent workshop where we all created diva's, lanterns, rangoli patterns and had lots of Diwali fun. The children showcased their understanding of the story of Ram and

We also created a beautiful collaborative rangoli pattern outside, using vibrant colours to celebrate the Festival of Lights. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about Diwali and enjoy the traditions of this special celebration.

Attendance and House Point Celebration

Well done to Cedar Class for winning the attendance trophy for excellent attendance this half-term! We love to see so many children come to school every day and hope this high streak of attendance can continue in Autumn 2! As a treat, they had so much fun bouncing away on the Bouncy Castle this term!

Attending school on time and regularly is highly important for your child's development as it allows them to access our full curriculum. Thank you for your support as co-educators. I wonder who will be the attendance winners next term?

House Point Winners

Aether is in the lead! Aether won our house point competition this term, so Miss Savadia organised a special treat…a Bouncy Castle! The children jumped around and had so much fun! Before jumping with joy, they spoke about the importance of WHY we follow our core values and how they are going to show the core values next term. We are so proud of them. I wonder which house will win the competition next term?

Avanti Fields Joint Christmas Card Fundraising Project

This Christmas, our Avanti Fields Primary and Secondary schools are joining together for a special fundraising project! Pupils are invited to create their own Christmas artwork on A4 paper, which can then be turned into personalised Christmas cards and other gifts featuring their own designs. To take part, parents simply visit mycardproject.com/order, enter the code MCP6WQ, upload their child's artwork and share the link with friends and family so they can purchase cards and other items featuring the pupil's design. Please note that artwork must be uploaded and orders placed by 24 October. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated back to the schools. The Secondary School will use its share to support our chosen charities: The Local Goshalla, Action for Children and The Global Hindu Federation, while the Primary School will use its proceeds towards a charity of our choice that the children will vote for democratically in class. This is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to showcase their creativity while helping to raise money for our schools and wider community.

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

As we celebrate Diwali lets reflect on the special celebration of Harvest Festival and World Food Day, we can think about where our special celebration food comes from, give thanks for what we have, and learn about the importance of ensuring everyone has enough healthy food to eat.

Why it's important:

  • It helps children understand that food is essential for growth and good health.

  • It teaches children to appreciate farmers and the people who help produce our food.

  • It encourages gratitude for the food and resources we have.

  • It helps children understand that not everyone has access to enough food.

  • It inspires children to show kindness and support those in need.

At Home Activity:

Create a "Harvest of Gratitude Basket"

  • Draw a large basket on a piece of paper.

  • Around the basket, draw or cut out pictures of different fruits, vegetables, grains, and other foods.

  • On each food item, write or draw something you are thankful for, such as your family, friends, home, education, or favourite activities.

  • Inside the basket, write:

"Healthy food helps me grow, learn, and thrive."
