Primary Parent's Bulletin 12.09.25

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a wonderful start to the school year. The children have settled in beautifully, showing great enthusiasm, positivity, and readiness for learning. Classrooms are full of energy and purpose, and it's been a joy to see friendships rekindled and new routines established with confidence.

Our recent Enrichment Day was a fantastic success. Children from Preschool to Year 3 enjoyed either Fun Fitness or Archery sessions, designed to encourage teamwork, movement, and fun. It was a great way to ease back into school life and promote well-being across the early part of the term.

We are also pleased to launch three exciting pupil leadership opportunities open to children across the school. These roles support the development of confidence, responsibility, and a sense of contribution to our wider school community.

🌟 Pupil Leadership Roles Now Open for Applications:

  • School Council (Years 1–3): Represent your class, share ideas, and help improve the school.

  • Play Leaders (Years 3–6): Promote positive play and lead games during break and lunchtimes.

  • Rights Respecting Ambassadors (Reception–Year 6): Raise awareness of children’s rights and global issues.

If your child is interested, please support them in completing the relevant form below. Each form outlines what the role involves.

📝 Applications close on Friday, 26th September 2025

📌 Click below to apply: ➡️ School Council Form ➡️ Play Leader Form   ➡️ Rights Respecting Ambassador Form

We’re looking forward to seeing our pupils step into these important roles and make a positive contribution to school life.

 Warm regards,

 Ms Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Sunflower

This week Sunflowers have been enjoying yoga time, using scarfs to create large movements. Every moment has been filled with joy, laughter, and delightful discoveries! 🧘‍♀️✨

Preschool

This week Pre-school have enjoyed circle time, we have been learning our school rules and exploring different feelings. It has been delightful to see the children engage in their learning and express how they feel using The Colour Monster Story.

Reception

This week in Reception, we became nest builders! 🐦🪵🍃 We explored the amazing world of birds and took on the challenge of building our very own nests. Armed with buckets and big imaginations, we headed outside to collect twigs, leaves, and anything nature could offer. The children worked together to create cosy bird homes, just like real birds! Such a fun, hands-on adventure full of creativity and teamwork. 🌿✨

Year 1

In Art, Year 1 have been getting creative with mark making as part of our Art unit. The children used a variety of exciting lines and textures to design their own space-themed masterpieces, capturing movement and energy through their marks. From swirling planets to shooting stars, their imaginations truly took off!

Year 2

Year 2 have enjoyed exploring the map of the United Kingdom this week, naming countries, capital cities and the surrounding seas. One geologist even identified ‘Lough Neagh’, a freshwater lake in the centre of Northern Ireland. In History, we have also been travelling back in time to find out some interesting facts about the Great Fire of London.

Did you know it all began on 2nd September 1666 on Pudding Lane?

Year 3

This week, year 3 have been exploring different types of rocks in science. They have also been learning about how igneous rocks are formed and how lava erupts from a volcano. We used one of the children’s homework projects to explore this concept too!

Stars of the week

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.

Rights Respecting Article of the week:

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

Article 31: Every Child Has the Right to Rest, Play, and Relax The Joy of Play

Talk with your child about the different ways they like to play, rest, and relax. Together, make a list of their favourite activities—whether it’s playing outdoors, reading, drawing, or spending quiet time with family.

Encourage your child to create a poster or collage titled “My Favourite Ways to Rest and Play.” They could use drawings, photos, or magazine cut-outs to show all the different things that make them feel happy and relaxed.

This activity helps children recognise the importance of rest and play, celebrate the activities they enjoy, and understand that having time to relax is a right.

Upcoming Parents’ Evening – Early Connection, Strong Start

At Avanti Fields, we believe that strong partnerships between school and home set the foundation for a successful year. That’s why we hold our first Parents’ Evening early in the academic year—to give you the opportunity to:

  • Get to know your child’s class teacher

  • Understand how your child has settled into their new year group

  • Receive practical guidance on how to support their learning at home

Each appointment will last no longer than 10 minutes to ensure fairness and equal time for all families.

During your meeting, the teacher will share:

  • How your child has progressed since the last report or meeting

  • What we’ve noticed they’re excelling in—both academically and personally

  • Their next steps, and how you can support these areas effectively at home

We encourage all parents to attend, as early collaboration helps set the tone for a positive and productive year ahead.

Please book your child’s parents evening appointment via Arbor.

Please ensure you book your meeting slot via Arbor between Monday, 15th September at 4:00pm - Friday, 26th September at 4:00pm.

The sign-up system will automatically close after this time, and no further bookings will be accepted.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Please Note: 25/26 Autumn Primary Parent meetings will appear on Parent Portal Home page and you can book from there by following the relevant steps. If you face any difficulty please contact to admin office.

Communication with Teachers

We kindly ask that parents and carers do not email teachers directly. To ensure smooth and consistent communication, please use one of the following options:

This helps us to manage communication more effectively, ensures queries are directed to the right person, and allows teachers to focus on teaching and supporting pupils during the school day.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Intimate Care Policy

We have updated the school's procedure of how parents will be notified if their child has received intimate care such as being changed after toileting accidents. You will now only receive the notification through medical tracker from Monday 15th September 2025.

Smile Zone Dental Practice – Free Dental check-ups

I am reaching out on behalf of Smile Zone Dental Practice to inform you about an exciting campaign we are currently running for our local nurseries and primary schools at our practice.

Recent studies and local health data indicate that childhood dental health remains a growing concern, especially in Leicester, with an increasing number of young children experiencing tooth decay and other oral health issues which can result in time off school. As part of our commitment to community well-being, we are offering free dental check-ups for children at our practice to help identify and prevent dental problems before they progress and inculcate good habits from a young age.

To register, parents to send an email to info@smilezonedental.co.uk with the subject “Child dental check-up” with the name, parent/ guardian's phone number, full address, and date of birth of each child they would like to book an appointment for.

 Kind regards,

Smile Zone
