Primary Parent's Bulletin 12.12.25

Executive Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy and rewarding half term across our schools in Leicester, with many opportunities for our pupils to learn, grow and explore their learning in meaningful ways. We have also taken an important step forward by formally establishing the Leicester Learning Village, and we look ahead to the final stages of recruitment in the New Year to fully secure this exciting development.

Krishna Avanti Primary School (KAPS)

Our pupils have enjoyed a wide range of enriching experiences this half term, including Odd Socks Day and Anti-Bullying Week, a Year 5 Immersive Ancient Greece Day, a Year 3 Govinda’s food workshop, and our Christingle service at St Denys’ Church. Pupils have also taken part in Year 6 Avanti Sings rehearsals, Enterprise Week (raising £398), the Christmas Fayre, and Christmas Jumper Day (raising £211).

We have greatly valued welcoming parents and carers into school for our coffee afternoon, town hall event, and a range of workshops including PSHE/RSE, Year 4 MTC, Year 6 reading, Year 2 SATs, Reception dental hygiene, and Reception Christmas carols. Thank you to those parents who were also able to contribute to our recent Section 48 inspection.

For our staff, we were inspired on our INSET day when five schools across the Trust came together for the official launch of our Reading, Writing and Oracy project, led by the Open University. Over the coming year, this project will enrich our approach to literacy, with pupils already engaging enthusiastically in a competition to design new reading spaces across the school.

Avanti Fields School (primary)

Pupils at Avanti Fields Primary have also enjoyed a busy half term, taking part in Odd Socks Day and Anti-Bullying Week, a Year 3 Govinda’s food workshop, a KS1 sports festival, and Enterprise Week. Pupils also attended the Christmas Fayre raising ( £629.90) and celebrated Christmas Jumper Day raising ( £159.24)

We have been delighted to see parents and carers attend a variety of workshops and events, including Pre-school stay and play, Reception dental hygiene, Year 2 SATs, and Pre-school and Reception Christmas carols. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with you in the Spring term as we support your child’s learning journey.

Staff were similarly inspired during our Trust-wide INSET day, marking the launch of the Reading, Writing and Oracy project with the Open University. This work will support high-quality teaching and learning across the school over the coming year.

Avanti Fields School (secondary)

This half term, our secondary pupils have taken part in a rich range of opportunities including National Space Academy masterclasses, sporting fixtures, Anti-Bullying Week, a Year 11 DMU food trip, Year 8 Avanti Sings rehearsals, and a Celebration Achievement Awards evening. Pupils have also participated in the Year 9 Girls in Computing event, a Year 8 trip to the National Space Centre, and Christmas Jumper Day.

We were pleased to welcome Year 11 parents and carers to our consultation evening, which this year returned to an in-person format and allowed for valuable face-to-face conversations.

Our staff were once again inspired during the Trust INSET day for the launch of the Reading, Writing and Oracy project, which will continue to strengthen teaching and learning across the secondary phase.

I would like to thank our Avanti Fields PTFA for their continued support this term, organising community events and contributing so positively to the life of our schools.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication to your children. Their passion for inspiring spiritually compassionate changemakers ensures that high-quality teaching, enriching opportunities, and memorable experiences are possible for every pupil.

From everyone at the Leicester Learning Village, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Vanessa Bardsley

Executive Principal

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Parents Consultation Evening : 20th & 22nd January 2026

Upcoming Parents’ Evening – Early Connection, Strong Start

At Avanti Fields, we believe that strong partnerships between school and home set the foundation for a successful year. That’s why we hold our first Parents’ Evening early in the academic year—to give you the opportunity to:

  • Get to know your child’s class teacher

  • Understand how your child has settled into their new year group

  • Receive practical guidance on how to support their learning at home

Each appointment will last no longer than 10 minutes to ensure fairness and equal time for all families.

During your meeting, the teacher will share:

  • How your child has progressed since the last report or meeting

  • What we’ve noticed they’re excelling in—both academically and personally

  • Their next steps, and how you can support these areas effectively at home

We encourage all parents to attend, as early collaboration helps set the tone for a positive and productive year ahead.

Please book your child’s parents evening appointment via Arbor.

Please ensure you book your meeting slot via Arbor between Thursday , 11th December at 4:00pm - Monday, 12th January at 4:00pm.

The sign-up system will automatically close after this time, and no further bookings will be accepted.

Importance Notice : Parents are requested to book only one meeting slot on either of the available meeting days. Please do not book multiple slots or schedule meetings on both days, as this causes inconvenience and prevents other parents from booking a slot for their child. Each child is allocated only one meeting slot.

If you are unable to attend the meeting at your booked time, please email to the school . Class Teacher will review the request and provide an alternate meeting option where possible.

Please Note: Administrative office days and hours may vary during the term break. If you experience any difficulty with meeting bookings, kindly contact the school via email.

Safeguarding Reminder for Parents and Carers

We kindly remind all parents and carers to be mindful when waiting on the school premises before dismissal time. To support our safeguarding procedures, we ask that parents and carers do not speak to or interact with any children through the school gates or fencing during learning time.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a safe and focused learning environment for all pupils.

Readathon

We are running a Read for Good Readathon and we’d love your child to join in.

This will take place from Monday 10th November - Monday 9th February.

The charity Read for Good encourages children to read through its unique motivational approach that inspires reluctant readers to give reading a go and keen readers to read more widely. Pupils can choose whatever they want to read - from comics to classics and audiobooks to blogs - they are not being assessed, it’s all about reading for fun! And, they are motivated to read because the money they raise in sponsorship helps to provide a regular supply of brand new books and a resident storyteller to every major children’s hospital in the UK.

All you have to do is:

  1. Take a look at what they plan to read, or help them complete their list of books to read. Remember they can read whatever they want: books, e-books, poetry, comics – anything goes! Sharing books is fine too (in fact recommended!) as well as listening to audio books.

  2. Help your child find sponsors among family and friends. The easiest way to sponsor a child is by clicking the link https://readforgood.givingpage.org/readathon?custom_cFcFTPsmi6mdGDd=0016M00002WX7j2QAD&custom_R6cC4OEw44xOaz6=null

  3. Send in your sponsorship money as you collect it and give it to your class teacher. Don't forget, the last day to bring in your sponsorship money is Monday 9th February.

Please support your child’s sponsored read as much as you can. They’ll be helping kids in hospitals get books, as well as helping themselves, and our school receives free books worth 20% of our grand sponsorship total, so there really is something in it for everyone.

Christmas Fayre and Enterprise

Thank you so much for joining with our Christmas fayre this week, we hope that you enjoyed the stalls. As part of enterprise week, children made items to sell at the fayre. The winning year group with the highest taking was Year 3 and raised £90. We raised £629.90 in total which will be used to support with reading projects.

Christmas Fair- Elf winner

Well done to Riya in Reception Buttercup Class for guessing the correct name of the Elf- Bumblee! 😊 Thank you to all of those families that took part in our Elf challenge.

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

💜Articles 4 links to Human Rights Day (10th December)

(Celebrating fairness, equality, and responsibility around the world)

Article 4 – Making rights real: Governments must do everything they can to make sure all children’s rights are respected, protected, and fulfilled.

Why these rights are important:

  • Children’s rights are part of human rights — the promises made to everyone, everywhere.

  • Governments have a big job: to make sure all children can grow up safe, healthy, and happy.

  • Schools, families, and communities also share that responsibility by treating everyone fairly and speaking up for what’s right.

  • Learning about Human Rights Day helps children see that fairness and respect are global — and that they can make a difference, even in small ways.

At home activity:

Fairness in Action Jar:  As a family, notice moments of fairness, kindness, or speaking up for what’s right throughout the week.  Write them on slips of paper and add them to a jar.  At the end of the week, read them together and celebrate your “Fairness Champions”!
