Primary Parent's Bulletin 13.03.26

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and carers,

At Avanti, we are proud to celebrate festivals that reflect our shared values. Holi, the Hindu festival of colours, marks the arrival of spring and symbolises joy, new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil. It is a celebration of unity and community, where people come together in happiness and mutual respect — values that closely reflect The Avanti Way.

Festival of Colours Event – 27th March

We will be holding a ‘Festival of Colours’ event on 27th March at 2.00pm for Primary pupils. We would like all children to experience the traditions of Holi in a fun and memorable way.

As the event involves the throwing of powdered paint, we kindly ask that all children come to school in old clothes, preferably white, so that the colours can be seen clearly.

Please note: If your child is in school uniform that day, they will not be able to participate.

Pre-School

Pre-School children will also be participating as a class. There will be a morning session for pupils who attend mornings only. All other Pre-School pupils will join the rest of the school at 2.00pm.

Please note: If your child is in uniform that day, they will not be able to participate.

Donations

If you would like to donate Holi powder for the event, please hand this to your child’s class teacher by 20th March.

We look forward to celebrating together and creating a vibrant, joyful afternoon for the children.

Warm regards,

 Ms. A Thakore

Parent Helpers for School Trips – Expression of Interest

We are pleased to share that we are now inviting expressions of interest from parents who would like to support school trips for the remainder of this academic year and the 2026–2027 academic year.

Educational visits are a valuable part of our curriculum, and parent support can greatly enhance these experiences for our pupils. We are therefore looking to appoint:

  • 2 parent helpers from Reception

  • 2 parent helpers from Year 1

  • 2 parent helpers from Year 2

  • 2 parent helpers from Year 3

Expectations of a Parent Helper

Being a parent helper is a position of trust and responsibility. In order to ensure fairness, safeguarding, and the highest standards of conduct, please note the following expectations:

  • If selected, parent helpers will be asked to support year groups other than their own child’s class. This is to promote pupil independence and ensure appropriate boundaries.

  • Parent helpers must be willing to commit to supporting at least one trip during the academic year, if asked.

  • Parent helpers are expected to uphold and model the Avanti Way, living our values and virtues at all times — during the trip and in all interactions connected to the school community.

  • Parent helpers must follow all staff instructions and school policies, including safeguarding and health and safety procedures.

Safeguarding Requirements

Any parent selected will be required to:

  • Undergo a DBS check

  • Provide references

  • Complete any required safeguarding or health and safety briefing

Appointment will only be confirmed once all checks are satisfactorily completed.

Application Process

If you are interested, please complete the expression of interest form by Friday 13th March at 16:00.

Within the form, you will be asked to explain why you are interested in supporting school trips and what you feel you can contribute to the role.

Selection will be based on the quality of applications, followed by DBS checks and references.

We are grateful for the continued support of our parent community and look forward to working in partnership to enrich our pupils’ learning experiences.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Primary Sports Day Parent Volunteers

We are looking for Parent Volunteers to support us with our primary sports days.

If you are interested, please complete the form below and we will contact you should we require your assistance. Please note, the form will close on Friday 13th March 2026.

Thank you

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Sunflower room

In the Sunflower Room this week we have been exploring and learning our 2D shapes through jigsaw’s, shape models and playdough with cutters.

Preschool

In Preschool we have been exploring with Numicon. We have used playdough to represent the different numbers that we have been learning about.

Reception

Reception children took part in a wonderful art workshop where they worked with a special visitor and used their imagination to think about the textures, patterns and colours dinosaurs may have had.

Year 1

For PSHE, Year 1 loved going into the forest area to share a story for Reading Week. They listened to a story all about looking after our environment, and we discussed how we can care for our school environment and which parts of the school are our favourite areas.

Year 2

Reading Week has been a hit! Our brilliant storyteller blew our minds with a fantastic story about aliens! We had an excellent time!

Year 3

Year 3 have had so much fun dressing up for World Book Day and being amazing story-tellers! Well done to everyone that entered our different competitions – we are all so proud of your amazing efforts!

Rights Respecting Article of the week: 💧 World Water Day – Articles 24 & 27

Every child has the right to clean water, good health, and a safe standard of living. Access to clean water is essential for health, hygiene, and wellbeing.

World Water Day reminds us that many people around the world still do not have access to safe drinking water.

Why it matters:

  • Clean water keeps us healthy

  • Water is essential for everyday life

  • We all share responsibility for protecting resources

At-home activity:

Can you have a go at creating your own water-cycle? Why is water important for us? Why not make a video!
