Head of Primary's Message
Dear Parents and carers,
I would like to start by wishing our Year 2 children the very best of luck as they begin their KS1 SATs on Monday 18th May 2026. We are all incredibly proud of all the children’s hard work and resilience during the preparation for these assessments, which are an opportunity for the Year 2 children to showcase what they have learnt in Key Stage 1 and the progress they have made. With a confident and positive mindset, the children will do well next week.
On Friday 8th May, we enjoyed celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday by having a special tree planting ceremony in the Forest School. Our Eco- Monitors from each class took part in this event and some of the children were interviewed by ITV Local News – this was then aired on the 6pm ITV Central News that evening. Thank you to the PTFA for the generous donation of the two trees we planted. What a wonderful legacy for the future. Please do have a look at the photos from that day in the photo gallery below.
I would like to remind you that school will be closed from Monday 25th May to Friday 29th May for the Half- Term holiday. We will also be having our staff training day on Monday 1st June; hence, school will be closed to the children on that day. We look forward to welcoming them back on Tuesday 2nd June.
Once again, thank you for your continued support with your child or children’s learning. Although it has been a very bust half term, it has also been a positive few weeks filled with many learning opportunities and experiences for the children.
Warm regards,
Ms. A Thakore

Magical Moments
Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.
We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!
Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday Celebrations

Here at Avanti Fields, we celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday on Friday 8th May by planting 2 tress in our Forest School area. The Eco-Warrior children from each class worked together with members of the PTFA and Miss Vernon to plant the trees and they also give a short speech about the importance of Sir David’s work and why trees are important to our existence on Earth. A reporter from ITV Local News filmed the tree planting and interviewed some of the children. These were later aired on the 6pm news as part of ITV’s report on Sir David Attenborough’s milestone birthday.
We are proud of all the children who helped plant the trees and were amazed by their confidence when speaking to the reporter. Here are some of the photos from that morning.

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.
Rights Respecting School information
Rights Respecting Article of the week: World Day Against Child Labour – Article 32 and 35
The World Day Against Child Labour is important because it raises awareness about children who are forced to work instead of going to school and living safely.
Why it matters:
It reminds people that child labour is harmful and goes against children’s rights. For example, Article 32 protects children from dangerous work, and Article 35 protects them from being trafficked or exploited. This day encourages everyone to help protect children and ensure they have a safe and healthy future.
At-home activity:
World Day Against Child Labour brings together Governments, employers and individuals to highlight what can be done to help children who are working in negative situations. Write a letter to world leaders explaining why children should not be forced to work.
Attendance:
1st Rank | Buttercup 98.9% |
2nd Rank | Bluebell 98.3% |
3rd Rank | Chestnut 97.5% |
