Primary Parent's Bulletin 17.04.26

Head of Primary's Message

Dear Parents and carers,

Welcome back to the new term. I hope you have all had a restful and enjoyable Easter break and that the children are returning refreshed and ready for the exciting weeks ahead.

As we begin this term, I would like to share an important update with you. Mrs Ganatra, our Assistant Principal for the Primary phase, has now begun her maternity leave. We send her our warmest wishes as she embarks on this very special new chapter, and we look forward to welcoming her back in the future.

To support the school during this time, we are pleased to welcome Mrs Jansari, who will be joining us as Interim Assistant Principal. Mrs Jansari will play a key role in leading reading across the Primary phase, as well as supporting inclusion throughout the school. We are delighted to have her as part of our team and know she will make a positive contribution to our school community.

We look forward to another term of learning, growth, and shared success.

With warmest wishes,

 Ms. A Thakore

Magical Moments

Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.

We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!

Primary Sports Week – Week Beginning 20th April 2026

As stated in the academic calendar, the week beginning 20th April 2026 will be our Primary Sports Week

Special Sporting Event – Monday 20th April

On the Monday of Sports Week, all children from Reception to Year 3 will take part in a special sporting event led by professional sports coaches.

Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their full P.E. kit on this day, even if it is not their usual P.E. day.

  • Reception: Fun Fitness Session

  • Year 1 – Year 3: Quidditch Session

We are excited to provide the children with this unique opportunity to develop teamwork, resilience and confidence through sport.

Sports Day Information

On your child’s allocated Sports Day, please ensure they attend school wearing their normal P.E. kit

Parents and carers are warmly invited to attend. Please sign in at the school office promptly to ensure you are able to join us for the event.

‘Afternoon’ Pre-School Parents – Important Information

If your child attends afternoons only, you must complete the following form to confirm your attendance at Sports Day:

This is a parent and child event, and parents are required to stay for the entire duration. Once the event has finished, parents will need to take their child home and return them at the normal time of 12:00pm

The deadline to submit the form is 10th April 2026. If the form is not completed by this date, unfortunately you will not be permitted to attend due to staffing ratios.

Earth day

As part of Earth day, we are excited to invite children to our Earth Day Dress-Up Celebration Day on Tuesday 28th April, linked to RRSA Article 24 – the right to a healthy environment.

Children can come into school dressed in an Earth or nature-themed outfit, and we would love to see creativity and imagination. Ideas could include animals, plants, flowers, the four elements, recycling champions, gardeners, oceans, forests or “protect the planet” superheroes made from recycled materials.  There is no expectation to buy anything new as we encourage homemade, reused, or recycled costumes.

We will also hold a special Earth Day Assembly, where we will share our amazing costumes and pick best dressed.

During the week, children will take part in PTFA-led gardening sessions, helping to improve and care for our school outdoor spaces.

We look forward to celebrating together and supporting children’s understanding of how we can care for our environment.

WOW Travel (KS1 and KS2)

Well done for a fantastic start to the term with travelling to school in an active way. We are truly grateful for your support in ensuring we keep our school car park safe and enabling our pupils to exercise in a fun way!

We spent some of this first week back at the top of the local authority leader board for travelling actively to school each day- let's keep it up!

Also- a huge well done to Chestnut Class (Year 3 for being top of the leaderboard in our school during March). The class at the top of the school leaderboard each month is awarded with Strider the Mascot teddy to keep in their class for the whole month

Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.

🌺 Rights Respecting Article of the week: Article 14 – Freedom of Thought, Belief and Religion

Every child has the right to think freely, choose their own beliefs and practise a religion—or not practise one—while being guided by their parents and carers as they grow and develop. This right also includes respecting the beliefs, opinions and identities of others.

Why it matters:

Article 14 matters because children should be free to explore their ideas, values and beliefs in a safe and supportive environment. When children can express what they think and believe, they develop confidence, independence and a strong sense of identity. Respecting different beliefs also builds understanding, empathy and harmony within communities. In a Rights Respecting School, encouraging thoughtful discussions and celebrating different beliefs helps everyone feel valued and included.

At home activity:

Create a “Belief and Values Reflection”. This could be a poster, a paragraph, or a short video. Describe something that is important to you—this could be a belief, a value, a cultural practice, or something you feel strongly about. Explain why it matters to you and how it connects to Article 14. Then reflect on how respecting different beliefs helps your school community be more welcoming and rights respecting.
