Primary Parent's Bulletin 18.09.26
Head of Primary's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to personally thank you for the wonderful support you continue to show our school. As Headteacher, I truly value the strong partnership we have with our families, as we know that when home and school work together, our children thrive.
The fantastic attendance at our Reception Reading Workshop and our Year 1 Phonics Workshop reflects the commitment you have to your child's learning. It was wonderful to see so many of you giving your time to learn more about how you can support your child at home. Your engagement and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated and make a real difference to your child's success
I look forward to continuing to work alongside you throughout the year. Please do make a note of our upcoming parent workshops and events and join us whenever you can. Your involvement is invaluable, and together we can ensure every child has the very best opportunity to flourish.
Thank you once again for your continued support and partnership.
Kind Regards
Ms Thakore
Reminder : Parent's Evening
Our first Parents' Evenings of the academic year will take place on Monday 6th October and Wednesday 8th October.
These meetings are an important opportunity to meet with your child's class teacher, discuss how your child has settled into their new class, celebrate their successes and ask any questions you may have. Teachers will also share your child's next steps in learning and provide practical advice on how you can support learning at home.
Appointments will be available to book via Arbor, with bookings opening on Monday 14th September- 8:00am until Monday 28th September 15:00pm
Please note that on Tuesday 6th October and Thursday 8th October, the school day will finish at 2.30pm for all children, unless your child is attending a pre-booked after-school club. Thank you for making the necessary arrangements for collection on these days.
We look forward to meeting with you and continuing our strong partnership to ensure every child has the very best opportunities to thrive.
Car park (drop off and collection)
It is extremely important that you DO NOT DOUBLE PARK when dropping or collecting your children. If there are no parking spaces available, please drive out of the car park and re-enter again. Double parking is causing unnecessary congestion and preventing all parents from making sure their children enter or leave the school site. If the double parking continues, we will have no choice but to ban all parents from car park.
Thank you for your continued support.
Magical Moments
Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.
We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!
Sunflower room | This week, the Sunflowers have been enjoying exploring a variety of different textures. They particularly enjoyed collecting leaves and using a range of natural materials creatively to make some wonderful autumnal pictures. | ![]() |
Preschool | Pre-school have enjoyed exploring differences this week, we have been using mirror’s to identify our features and discuss what makes us different. This has been a great way of referencing our story of the week ‘Elmer’ and celebrating our differences! | ![]() |
Reception | Reception class have been learning about the season of Autumn and exploring the changes that happen to trees during this time of year. We talked about how the leaves change colour and begin to fall from the branches. The children then created their own tree paintings using a range of beautiful autumnal colours. | ![]() |
Year 1 | Year 1 have been learning about our school community. As part of our topic, we went on a local history minibus trip to explore different places in the community. We saw the gurdwara, the police station, KFC, and many other important places in our community! | ![]() |
Year 2 |
Year 2 have enjoyed exploring our brand new outdoor Gym equipment. We spoke about the importance of physical exercise and how it can be fun to exercise with friends! We also linked our discussion to RRSA- we have the right to play (Article 31). What a wonderful way to exercise in our local environment!

Year 3 | Year 3 have began their fantastic learning about Rocks! Our Year 3's bought in their own volcanic experiments and we had such fun testing them out, and watching them explode of course! Have you ever carried out an experiment?😀 | ![]() |
Year 4 | Year 4 have been learning about living things in our local area. We were checking our insect traps in this picture! Which insects are in your local area?

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.
Article 5 reminds us that parents, carers, and families have an important role in helping children learn about their rights and make good decisions. As children grow and develop, they should be given increasing opportunities to make choices and take responsibility for themselves. As we learn about this Article, we can understand that adults are there to guide and support us while helping us become more independent and confident.
Why it's important:
It helps children understand that trusted adults are there to support them.
It encourages children to develop confidence and independence.
It teaches children how to make safe and responsible choices.
It helps children learn new skills as they grow.
It reminds children and adults to work together with trust, care, and respect.
At Home Activity:
Create a "Growing Independence Tre
Draw the trunk and branches of a large tree on a piece of paper.
On the roots, write or draw people who help and guide you, such as parents, carers, family members, or teachers.
On the leaves, write or draw things you can do by yourself, such as getting ready for school, helping at home, or completing homework.
In the centre of the trunk, write:
"With guidance and support, I am growing into a confident and responsible person."
