Head of Primary's Message
Dear Parents and carers,
What a truly fantastic Sports Week we have enjoyed together! It has been wonderful to see our pupils embracing every opportunity to be active, challenge themselves, and, most importantly, support one another. From the excitement of team events to the determination shown in individual challenges, the week has been a celebration of effort, resilience, and joy.
Sports Week is about so much more than physical activity. It represents the values we hold at the heart of our school—perseverance, teamwork, respect, and self-belief. These values are deeply rooted in the Avanti Way, where we encourage our children to strive for excellence not only in their achievements but in their character. Whether winning or learning from setbacks, our pupils demonstrated humility, courage, and kindness throughout the week, making us all incredibly proud.
A huge thank you to our staff and families for your encouragement and support—it truly makes a difference in helping our children flourish.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Earth Day on 28th April. Children are invited to come to school dressed up in something that represents the wonders of the world, and they will be taking part in activities to learn about the importance of caring for our planet and how they can make a positive difference in the world around them.
Warm regards,
Ms. A Thakore
Magical Moments
Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.
We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!
Sunflower | The Sunflowers this week have been using apples to print the body of a caterpillar using paint based on our story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’.

Preschool | Preschool have been reading the Supertato story. The children rescued the vegetables by unwrapping the tape off them and washing off the felt tip pen. What brilliant rescuers! | ![]() |
Reception | Reception class have been embracing their curiosity whilst emersed in nature in our wonderful outdoor classroom during their forest school sessions. | ![]() |
Year 1 | Year 1 had a magical time learning about animals this term. They enjoyed a special visit from Jungle Jo, where they explored different animal groups, including vertebrates and invertebrates, and learned lots of fascinating facts. The children even had the chance to hold some of the animals—well done for being so gentle and caring! | ![]() |
Year 2 | Year 2 enjoyed our visit from Jungle Jo where we had the opportunity to touch some of the beautiful creatures such as Lily the snake and Tilly the Tarantula! The children found out where in the world these creatures can be found alongside their diets and habitat. A wonderfully, fun way to develop our scientific knowledge.

Year 3 | This week we have been looking at sources of energy and renewable sources of energy. We have also been identifying chemical and electrical sources of energy around the classroom and powered a solar-powered windmill! | ![]() |
Earth day
As part of Earth day, we are excited to invite children to our Earth Day Dress-Up Celebration Day on Tuesday 28th April, linked to RRSA Article 24 – the right to a healthy environment.
Children can come into school dressed in an Earth or nature-themed outfit, and we would love to see creativity and imagination. Ideas could include animals, plants, flowers, the four elements, recycling champions, gardeners, oceans, forests or “protect the planet” superheroes made from recycled materials. There is no expectation to buy anything new as we encourage homemade, reused, or recycled costumes.
We will also hold a special Earth Day Assembly, where we will share our amazing costumes and pick best dressed.
During the week, children will take part in PTFA-led gardening sessions, helping to improve and care for our school outdoor spaces.
We look forward to celebrating together and supporting children’s understanding of how we can care for our environment.

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.
Rights Respecting School information
Rights Respecting Article of the week: Article of the week: Article 31 – Leisure, Play and Culture
Every child has the right to relax, play, and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities. This includes having time and safe spaces to play, opportunities to join clubs and groups, and access to arts, music, sport and community events.
Why it matters:
Article 31 matters because play and cultural experiences are essential for children’s wellbeing, development and happiness. Play helps children build confidence, creativity and social skills, while cultural activities allow them to explore their identity and learn about the world around them. When children do not have time to relax or access to safe places to play, their development can be limited. As a Rights Respecting School, encouraging play and celebrating culture supports children’s rights and helps create a school community where everyone can thrive.
At‑home activity:
Create a “Play and Culture Planner” for your week at home. Include time for relaxing, outdoor play, games, reading, music, sport or cultural activities such as cooking a traditional recipe or watching a cultural performance online. Choose one activity from your planner and write a short paragraph or create a video explaining why it is important for your wellbeing and how it links to Article 31 and your school’s Rights Respecting work.
Attendance:
1st Rank | Bluebell 100% |
2nd Rank | Daffodil 98.8% |
3rd Rank | Daisy 95.8% |
