Head of Primary's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the half-term, we would like to take this opportunity to meet with all parents during our Parents’ Evenings. These meetings are an important chance for us to work together in supporting your child’s learning and development, and we do hope that all parents are able to book in for this valuable opportunity.
Looking ahead, we are also excited to share that during the last week of this half term we will be celebrating Diwali. To mark this special occasion, we will be holding a pre-celebration with the children. The week will include a dress-up day, festival food, a range of Diwali-themed activities, and parent workshops/assemblies. Please below the key dates for parent and carer events:
October
15th - Pre-school Diwali parent/ carer workshop 8.00am- 9.00am
15th – Reception Diwali parent/ carer workshop 1.30pm-2.45pm
16th - Y2/Y3 Diwali Performance 1:45pm
17th – Y1 Diwali Performance 8:30am
We look forward to celebrating this vibrant festival together with our school community.
In addition, this year our Year 2 and Year 3 pupils will be sharing a short assembly performance. Due to limited space, we kindly ask that only two adults per child attends this event. Similarly, for the Year 1 production, attendance will be capped at two adults per child.
Please also note: if younger children will be accompanying you, we ask that they sit on your lap so we can ensure there is enough room for all visitors.
Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us make these special events enjoyable for everyone.
Warm regards,
Ms Thakore
Magical Moments
Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.
We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!
Sunflower | This week Sunflower class have been learning about minibeasts and where they live. We went on a bug hunt and made our own ‘bug hotels’ filled with natural resources to match the natural habitat. | ![]() |
Preschool | This week, Pre-school have been learning to develop positive attitudes about the differences between people. We have made our very own self-portraits using a range of materials. Are we all the same? | ![]() |
Reception | In Reception, we’ve been diving into the magical world of Owl Babies! The children have loved the story and have been doing some fantastic writing inspired by it. We thought about what baby owl Bill said and practised sounding out with our Fred fingers and did some wonderful writing! | ![]() |
Year 1 | This week, our Year 1 explorers set off on a mini magical mystery tour of our local community! Armed with clipboards, big smiles, and curious minds, the children hopped aboard the minibus to discover and locate important public places nearby. | ![]() |
Year 2 | Y2 have been developing their role as Scientists these past two weeks. We investigated absorbency, strength and flexibility with a range of materials. We were also lucky enough to make links with our secondary school and watch a Scientist carry out a burning experiment. This helped us to further develop our understanding of what happened during the Great Fire of London. We are curious scientists at Avanti! | ![]() |
Year 3 | Y have been developing their musical knowledge with Miss Jones! This week they learnt how to play with boomwhackers to create their own beats. They are enjoying their music lessons so much!

Rights Respecting Article of the week:
Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.
Article 30: Every Child Has the Right to Enjoy Their Own Culture, Language, and Religion Celebrating My Culture
Talk with your child about your family’s culture, traditions, language, or religion. Share stories, songs, or memories that show what makes your culture special. Together, make a list of things that represent your heritage—such as food, festivals, clothing, or celebrations.
Encourage your child to create a poster or scrapbook page titled “My Culture, My Identity.” They could add drawings, photos, or decorations that show the traditions and values they are proud of.
This activity helps children feel proud of who they are, respect their heritage, and recognise that every child has the right to celebrate their culture and beliefs.

PTFA Events
The PTFA is proud to be supporting the promoters of this year’s Navratri Festival!
It has been wonderful to see so many of our students take part and make such a fantastic effort with their traditional dress.
This year, the PTFA chose not to run the festival directly, as the opportunity arose for a 10-day celebration rather than the 2-day event we’ve previously hosted. Instead, we focused on supporting the promoters to ensure the event could go ahead successfully – with all funding going back to the school.
We’re delighted that Promotions has received such great support from the school community, and we hope to see this festival grow into an annual tradition with live music!
A very special thank you goes to our teachers for attending and supporting the event on Thursday, 25th September. (📸 Photo below!)
