Head of Primary's Message
Dear Parents and carers,
As we reach the end of a joyful and enriching Spring term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many celebrations and experiences that have brought our community together.
This half term has been particularly special as we marked Gaura Purnima, enjoyed a vibrant Reading Week, and came together for our colourful Holi celebrations. Each of these moments has offered our children the opportunity to learn not only through books and lessons, but through shared experiences that nurture character, culture and community.
Our celebration of Gaura Purnima gave pupils the opportunity to reflect on devotion, kindness and humility. During Reading Week, we celebrated the power of stories to inspire imagination, empathy and wisdom. Holi brought great joy and energy to our school, reminding us of the triumph of good over evil and the importance of unity and new beginnings.
These celebrations beautifully reflect The Avanti Way — living with respect, integrity, self-discipline and a deep sense of care for others. The teachings of Lord Krishna remind us to act with compassion, to fulfil our responsibilities with sincerity, and to see the divine value in every individual. It has been heartwarming to see our pupils embody these values in their conduct, enthusiasm and relationships with one another.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our staff for their dedication and care in creating such meaningful experiences, and to you, our parents and carers, for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are nurturing not only successful learners, but thoughtful and principled young people.
I wish you all a peaceful and restful break and look forward to welcoming you back for the Summer term.
With warmest wishes,
Ms. A Thakore

Magical Moments
Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.
We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!
Sunflower | In the Sunflower room this week we have been getting busy and exploring in construction, building tall and short towers using Lego, large foam blocks and wooden blocks. The children have enjoyed building but also watching it fall over.

Preschool | In Pre School we have been practising writing our name. We learnt how to hold a pencil and use prewriting shapes to know which way the letters go.

Reception | In Reception, we took part in a fun food workshop where we explored our five senses—taste, touch, sight, hearing and smell. We had the chance to try a variety of foods and played exciting games, such as guessing different food items blind folded. | ![]() |
Year 1 | Year 1 had a fantastic time on their trip to Rockingham Castle! The children enjoyed learning about the history of the castle and discovering what life was like in the past. They had great fun exploring the beautiful gardens, where they took part in an exciting scavenger hunt. It was a wonderful experience for everyone, and the children represented the school brilliantly.

Year 2 | Year 2 had a wonderful time exploring Impressionism as part of creating art in Computing. They were inspired by Artists such as William Morris and Piet Mondrian. Look at some of their fantastic designs...

Year 3 | Year 3 had a wonderful time at the Think Tank Museum. The explored history and science, but their favourite part was the Science Garden for sure! Here the explored how water can be transferred to create sounds, motion and music!

Appearance of Sri Rama - Ram Navami

Lord Rama, the Supreme Lord, appears in this world in a human form to teach us the ideal standard of character. Revered as Maryāda Puruṣottama - the perfect embodiment of righteous conduct - Rama shows us what it means to live with integrity in every role we hold. As a son, he honoured his father’s word without hesitation. As a husband, he remained deeply devoted and loyal. As a king, he placed the wellbeing of his people above his own comfort. His life is not just a story from the past; it is a living example of how virtue can guide our decisions, even when the path is difficult.
What makes Lord Rama truly inspiring is not that his life was easy, but that it was filled with challenges. Exiled to the forest, separated from his family, and faced with powerful adversaries - each situation tested his strength and resolve. Yet, in every moment, Rama chose dharma: to act with truth, courage, empathy, and self-discipline. He shows us that challenges are not obstacles to our growth, but opportunities to rise into a higher expression of our character.
For our Avanti community, Lord Rama’s appearance is a reminder that each of us can strive to live with purpose and virtue. Whether in the classroom, at home, or with friends, we are constantly faced with choices. Rama’s life encourages us to pause and ask: “What is the right thing to do?” When we act with honesty, kindness, and devotion, we develop the strength to overcome difficulties and contribute positively to the world around us. In this way, our conduct itself becomes a celebration, victory of wisdom over ignorance. Rama’s example continues to guide and inspire us every day.
Jaya Sri Rama - victory to Lord Sri Rama.

Rights Respecting School information

Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.
🌺 Freedom of Speech & Belief – Article 14
(Linked to Remembrance Day)
Every child has the right to think and believe what they choose and to practise their religion, as long as this does not stop others from enjoying their rights. Governments must also respect the role of parents in guiding children as they grow.
This links to Remembrance Day, when we honour those who have worked — and still work — to protect freedom, peace, and human rights.
Why it matters:
Everyone has the freedom to think and believe
Different beliefs should be respected
Rights come with responsibilities
At-home activity:
Research a faith that is different from your own. Find an interesting fact, belief, or tradition from that faith and write it down to share with the class. Are you able to find anything in that faith that is like your own faith or beliefs.
Attendance:
1st Rank | Daffodil 98.9% |
2nd Rank | Bluebell 97.3% |
3rd Rank | Snowdrop 96.7% |

This term, the PTFA organised a number of fantastic events for the community, including Dev Joshi, Gujarati Natak, and Bhajans. Thanks to your generosity and support, we have raised over £1,800 for the school this term alone, with the Bhajans weekend raising more than £1,000 by itself.
A huge thank you goes to all of our volunteers who gave their time, energy, and support to help make these events such a success.
We are also pleased to share how these funds are already making a difference. The PTFA has contributed:
