Secondary Parents' Bulletin 08.05.26

Head of Secondary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers

We have had a fantastic start to the week with our Year 8 students taking part in the Gateway Employer Workshops as part of our careers curriculum. Students engaged brilliantly throughout the sessions and gained valuable insight into future career pathways, workplace expectations and employability skills.

A reminder to parents and carers that following the half term break, our final INSET day of the academic year will take place on Monday 1st June. School will be closed to all students on this day.

We would also like to advise parents that confirmation of Year 9 option allocations will be communicated by the end of this half term. We are working hard to ensure that all students are allocated two of their three preferred options wherever possible. In cases where this has not been achievable due to curriculum or staffing constraints, a member of the Senior Leadership Team will contact parents directly to discuss suitable alternatives.

With GCSE examinations now underway, we would like to remind all Year 11 students that they must arrive on site by 8:15am at the latest, in full school uniform. All personal belongings should be securely stored in lockers before the start of examinations.

Targeted revision and intervention lessons will continue in school ahead of exam leave after half term. We encourage parents to support students at home by promoting consistent revision routines, encouraging students to seek support from teachers where needed, and helping them to follow a structured revision timetable to maximise productivity and confidence ahead of their examinations.

Warm regards

Ms N Kholia

This week we wanted to share with you some of our Yr8 student work in honour of David Attenborough’s 100th birthday this Friday. This work is from a project called ‘Attenborough’s Animals’ in which students create collages inspired by the work of contemporary collage artist and printmaker Mark Hearld.
