Executive Principal's Message

School Closure

Dear Parents & Guardians

Due to the adverse weather conditions experienced overnight and early this morning, I made the decision to close both Avanti Fields School and Krishna Avanti Primary School. This decision was taken following careful consideration of several factors, including early information shared by our lettings and premises teams last night, staff travel arrangements, and the availability of materials required to ensure the sites could be made safe for access, such as grit. In addition, both sites have experienced increased traffic in car parks and on surrounding roads throughout the week, which at times has created unsafe conditions.

I recognise that school closures are never an easy decision and can cause disruption for families. However, I felt it was important to communicate the closure as early as possible to allow families time to make alternative childcare arrangements and to minimise unnecessary travel in challenging conditions. This also enabled staff to use the morning productively to ensure learning resources were uploaded to TEAMS so that pupils’ learning could continue.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I am particularly mindful of the impact such decisions have on our working parents, and I am grateful for your cooperation as we prioritised the safety of our pupils, families, and staff.

Warm regards

Miss V Bardsley

Head of Secondary's Message

Dear Parents and Carers

A warm welcome back and happy New Year. We hope you and your families had a restful break.

This half term promises to be a busy and exciting one. We are pleased to be offering a range of enriching opportunities for our students, including:

A number of educational trips

The KS4 Macbeth theatre production

The KS4 Health Fair

Various workshops to support the PHSE curriculum

Year 8 Virtual Parents’ Evening

Year 9 Options Evening

Our Year 11 students will be taking part in mock interviews to support their preparation for post-16 college interviews. The second set of mock examinations will take place at the end of this half term and ongoing targeted revision support will continue to help them approach this important stage with confidence.

Car Park and Site Safety – Important reminder

We appreciate that the recent weather has presented additional challenges, and we fully understand the importance of ensuring that children arrive at school safely. However, at the beginning of this week we have noticed significant congestion in the school car park and on the road leading to the school during morning drop-off and afternoon collection times.

To help keep everyone safe and to ensure the smooth running of the school day, we kindly remind secondary parents and carers to make use of the park-and-stride arrangements, rather than attempting to drive into the school car park. This helps reduce congestion and improves safety for all members of our school community. Parents entering the car park without a valid car park pass will be challenged by school staff.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

We look forward to a positive and productive half term ahead.

Warm regards

Ms N Kholia
