Head of Secondary's Message
Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach half term, I would like to thank all students, parents and carers for their continued support throughout another busy and successful half term.
Following the break, we have a full week of enrichment experiences taking place across the school, including:
Year 10 Work Experience
Year 8 Employer Visits
Year 9 Holocaust Museum Trip
Year 7 and Year 9 End of Year Trips
We are looking forward to these valuable opportunities for our students and thank families in advance for their support with arrangements and preparation.
Year 11 students will begin study leave after half term. Although students will not be attending normal lessons, they should continue revising regularly and follow a clear revision timetable in preparation for their remaining examinations.
Please also note the following expectations for Year 11 students during the exam period:
Students must attend school in full school uniform for all examinations
Students should arrive by 08:15 for morning examinations
Students should arrive by 13:15 for afternoon examinations
We encourage all Year 11 students to continue working hard and making full use of the revision support available.
A reminder that the first day back after half term is an INSET day for staff, therefore students will return to school on Tuesday 2nd June.
Thank you once again for your continued support, and we wish all families a safe and restful half term break.
Warm regards
Ms N Kholia

Govinda's Menu update
Dear Parents and Carers
We would like to let you know that Govinda’s will be trialling a number of new menu items over the coming weeks. These will be introduced in phases, allowing us to test and refine dishes before any wider rollout.
This forms part of our ongoing work to align with the proposed updates to School Food Standards, ensuring that our menus continue to promote healthy eating and support pupils’ wellbeing.
As part of this, the updated approach places greater emphasis on:
Increasing the variety of vegetables and wholegrains within meals
Reducing added sugars and limiting foods high in fat and salt
Providing balanced meals that support sustained energy and concentration throughout the school day
Encouraging healthier food choices through menu design and presentation
All meals will continue to be:
Freshly prepared on site
Nutritious and balanced
Fully vegetarian in line with the school’s food ethos
The purpose of these trials is to introduce new dishes, gather feedback from pupils, and ensure that our menus remain both enjoyable and nutritionally appropriate. There will be no disruption to the lunch provision, and all pupils will continue to receive a full and balanced meal each day.
As part of this process, we welcome feedback. If you would like to share any comments, please contact us at keepintouch@govindas.com.
Thank you for your continued support.

GCSE Exam Behaviour Expectations
As we enter the GCSE exam season, we would like to inform you of some important expectations regarding student behaviour, particularly in and around the PE corridor and changing rooms.
The changing rooms are directly connected to the main sports hall, where all GCSE exams are taking place. To ensure our centre remains fully compliant with JCQ examination regulations and to provide our Year 11 students with the quiet, respectful environment they deserve, it is essential that all students follow the behaviour expectations that have been clearly and explicitly communicated to them.
Students must not communicate with others at any point along the PE corridor or while in the changing rooms. Sound easily carries through to the sports hall and any noise can disrupt exams, potentially compromising the exam conditions for those sitting them.
Please note that:
Any student who communicates in these areas will be issued with a C3.
These rules are in place throughout the exam season and are non-negotiable.
Students are reminded to show self-discipline and respect for those currently sitting exams - your child will be experience sitting their GCSEs in future exam seasons and would appreciate the same level of respect.
We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing this message at home, helping students understand the importance of maintaining a quiet and respectful environment during this critical period.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
PE department
Year 10 Speed Networking Event
We were delighted to welcome 25 professionals to today’s event, representing a wide range of sectors including law, engineering, science, medicine, finance, and self-employment. The majority of our professionals were parents of students at Avanti Fields, who generously gave their time to support the event. We also had Rolls Royce in attendance inspiring our students.
The professionals shared very positive feedback about our Year 10 students, commenting on how engaged they were and the thoughtful questions they asked throughout the sessions. The aim of today’s event was to inspire students and encourage them to explore a broad range of career pathways and opportunities for the future.
Year 7 & 8 Junior Maths Challenge
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our students who recently took part in the Junior Maths Challenge. Their enthusiasm, resilience and problem-solving skills were evident throughout, with many students achieving excellent results against strong national competition. Well done to all involved for representing the school so brilliantly and for embracing the challenge with such determination. Please see the attached document with the list of all students who participated and were awarded either the bronze, silver or gold award.
