Head of Secondary's Message
It has been another busy and rewarding half term, and I would like to thank you for your continued support.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening at the annual Avanti Talent Show last Friday. The range of talent on display, from music and dance to art was exceptional. It was a pleasure to see so many students take to the stage with confidence. My sincere thanks to Miss Olusanya and all staff involved in organising and supporting such a memorable event.
We were delighted to celebrate our students at our end of term Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Virtues Breakfast. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise those who consistently demonstrate our Avanti values in their daily conduct. Our students are truly incredible, living out the Avanti Way and serving as outstanding role models for the wider school community.
I would also like to extend my gratitude to our PTFA for organising a beautiful bhajan event for our community over the weekend. It was a truly special event, enjoyed by all.
Looking ahead, the summer GCSE examination series begins in the week commencing 4th May. Year 11 students will receive continued guidance and support in the lead-up to this important period, and we encourage all students to make full use of the revision resources and advice that have been shared. Thank you to all the parents and students who attended the Exams Information meeting yesterday evening. The presentation and additional revision support material has been emailed to all year 11 parents.
As we reach the end of a very busy half term, I hope you are able to enjoy a restful and enjoyable Easter break with your families.
Warm regards
Ms N Kholia

Shri Ram Navami : Appearance of Lord Rama

Lord Rama is one of the most cherished incarnations of God for Hindus and the story of the Ramayana continues to be loved by many millions around the world.
Rama Navami is one of the most beloved festivals in the Hindu calendar. The epic has inspired countless poets and storytellers, and its influence is even seen in modern narratives of love and heroism — from Star Wars to Avatar.
In the Ramayana, Rama leaves his beloved city of Ayodhya, accompanied by his dear wife, Sita, and his brother, Lakshman. They take up a life of exile in the forest until Sita is abducted by the evil demon-king Ravana. Rama and Lakshman then form an alliance with the monkey army, led by the great warrior Hanuman. Together they defeat Ravana’s forces, and Rama returns to take his place as king, ruling as a shining example of dharma and righteousness.
It is a powerful and timeless story — full of romance, adventure, chivalry, humour, tragedy, and triumph. Whenever God appears in this world, especially in a human form like that of Lord Rama, He teaches through His own example how to live an ideal life.
One of the greatest lessons we can learn from Lord Rama is selflessness. In every circumstance, He placed others before Himself. As a son, He accepted exile to uphold His father’s honour. As a husband, He spared no effort in rescuing Sita from Ravana. As a king, He embodied the principle of servant-leadership, placing the needs of His people above His own desires.
In this way, Lord Rama naturally embodies the very qualities we seek to cultivate in our own lives — respect, self-discipline, courage, integrity, empathy, and gratitude. These are not taught merely through words, but through lived example. He showed that a true leader is, in fact, a servant of all.
In our own lives, we are all leaders in some capacity — as teachers, parents, managers, or guides. The example of Lord Rama reminds us that the highest form of leadership is to lead by example: through selflessness, humility, and genuine care for others.
May we strive to follow such a noble example, and in doing so, inspire future generations through our own actions.
yad yad ācarati śreṣṭhastat tad evetaro janaḥsa yat pramāṇaṁ kurutelokas tad anuvartate
“Whatever action a great person performs, others follow. And whatever standards they set by their example, the whole world pursues.”
Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 3, Verse 21
World Book Day Door Competition
A huge well done to all students and staff who took part in this year’s World Book Day door competition. The creativity on display was fantastic, with classrooms transformed into scenes inspired by a wide range of much-loved books.
From imaginative designs to impressive attention to detail, the effort across the school was brilliant to see. The photos capture just a snapshot of the high standard and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved.
Thank you to all who contributed and to Miss Monia for organising a great competition – a wonderful celebration of reading and creativity!

Workshops by Leicester City Youth Service

As part of the PSHE curriculum, there will be workshops delivered by the Youth Service. The workshops are aimed to educate young people on the laws and effects of knife crime and to develop knowledge and safety. Subjects covered will include joint enterprise and the impact on victims, families and the wider society. We are very excited to welcome the Youth Workers into Avanti Fields and hope that the students find the workshops interact and informative.
The workshops will form part of the usual daily timetable and will not affect start time, break, lunch or home time. Each tutor group will attend 1 x 55-minute session. Workshops are designed to be age appropriate and tailored to each year group. The final workshops for Year 7 will take place on Wednesday 15th April.

End of Term Message from the PTFA
As we come to the end of another successful term, the PTFA would like to thank our wonderful school community for your continued support.
This term, the PTFA organised a number of fantastic events for the community, including Dev Joshi, Gujarati Natak, and Bhajans. Thanks to your generosity and support, we have raised over £1,800 for the school this term alone, with the Bhajans weekend raising more than £1,000 by itself.
A huge thank you goes to all of our volunteers who gave their time, energy, and support to help make these events such a success.
We are also pleased to share how these funds are already making a difference. The PTFA has contributed:
£3,000 towards the refurbishment of the drama studio and auditorium
Two years’ worth of Holi colours for the primary school
Looking ahead, our next big goal is to help raise funds for a school minibus, which will greatly benefit our pupils and wider school community.
If you would like to support us with fundraising for the minibus, please contact us at:avantifieldsptfa@gmail.com
We are always looking for more volunteers, so if you would like to get involved, please do come and join us. Your support will help us continue raising valuable funds for the school’s future.
