Head of Secondary's Message
Dear Parents and Carers
We were delighted to host the Reading for Pleasure Conference during our INSET day on Friday. Staff explored research-based strategies to help students reconnect with reading for enjoyment, and it was inspiring to see such passion and thoughtful discussion around the importance of literacy and life-long reading habits.
In school, our Year 8 students took part in the exciting Avanti Sings event, filling the hall with enthusiasm. We are incredibly proud of the positivity and unity they demonstrated. In addition, our Year 11 Design Technology students visited De Montfort University for an enriching experience, where they engaged in talks and activities linked to higher education and careers.
It has also been a successful week for sport, with strong performances in netball and girls’ basketball fixtures. Well done to all students involved.
Finally, our Year 11 GCSE Drama students completed the practical element of their NEA assessment. A huge thank you to Mrs Rashleigh and Mrs Askham for organising and recording the performances, enabling students to perform confidently and successfully.
We look forward to another positive week ahead.
Warm regards
Ms N Kholia
Parent Survey
We kindly invite all parents to complete a short survey and share your thoughts about our school. Your feedback helps us ensure we are providing the very best experience for your children.
This is your opportunity to tell us what you value and what you feel could be improved. The results will guide a series of more focused surveys later this year, helping us shape our action plans and continue improving our school community.

The students work features as part of the Leicester Open Exhibition that runs from now until January 30th 2026 at New Walk Museum and gallery. Girls in Computing event
All Year 9 girls will be taking part in a ‘Girls in Computing’ event on Monday 1st December (Periods 1–5a). The aim of the event is to raise awareness and interest in Computer Science by exploring the range of careers available, understanding current digital threats, and celebrating influential women who have shaped the field and modern society. Students involved will take their lunch during Period 5b. Participating students are expected to catch up on any learning or classwork missed.
GCHQ Competition

Several teams of Year 9 Spanish students have recently taken part in the National GCHQ competition - the UK’s intelligence, security and cyber agency. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and achievement. Throughout the online challenge, students developed a wide range of skills, including problem-solving, logical thinking, teamwork, and the use of different languages. They also had the opportunity to explore real-life scenarios linked to careers within the secret services.
The students showed incredible dedication, staying after school and continuing their efforts at home to complete a series of tasks. They competed against hundreds of schools from across the country. In addition, they demonstrated resilience, enthusiasm, and a brilliant attitude throughout. Our winning team was Active Lizard (Eli, Swapnil, Harikrishnan and Jwalin) who ranked within the top 20 schools regionally. They were closely followed by Team Attentive Cat (Aashi, Shanneya, Jhanvi and Arianna.)
All students involved received house points and a certificate for all their hard work. Well done to all involved!
Y11DT students visit to De Montfort University

On Tuesday 25th November, 32 of our Year 11 DT students visited the Futures Fair at De Montfort University. Students were given an insight into life at university, including a detailed Q&A session with current De Montfort students where they could ask any question – including about student finance, pastoral support and course selection.
Some of our students were brave enough to ask a question in front of 180 other students from schools across the county – including Shreyansi T. asking the highlight question of the event that generated a lot of great responses – ‘Why should I come and study at your university?’!
Our students earned stars for asking great questions during the careers fair, with most of our students earning enough stars to enter a prize draw. The lucky winner was none other than our very own Abinav V., who is the proud recipient of a £30 voucher – well done Abinav!
The event gave our students an awareness of how many options are available in higher education, and that we are fortunate to have high-quality opportunities in our own city. The highlight for many students was being able to speak to current students about their experiences, and gain insight into what University life could really be like. Well done to all of our Year 11s who attended for your engagement and enthusiasm!

On Wednesdays only, students should arrive through the gates between 8.45am and 9.00am due to the later start.
