Executive Principal's Message School Closure Dear Parents & Guardians, Due to the adverse weather conditions experienced overnight and early this morning, I made the decision to close both Avanti Fields School and Krishna Avanti Primary School.   This decision was taken following careful consideration of several factors, including early information shared by our lettings and premises teams last night, staff travel arrangements, and the availability of materials required to ensure the sites could be made safe for access, such as grit. In addition, both sites have experienced increased traffic in car parks and on surrounding roads throughout the week, which at times has created unsafe conditions.   I recognise that school closures are never an easy decision and can cause disruption for families. However, I felt it was important to communicate the closure as early as possible to allow families time to make alternative childcare arrangements and to minimise unnecessary travel in challenging conditions. This also enabled staff to use the morning productively to ensure learning resources were uploaded to TEAMS so that pupils’ learning could continue.   Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I am particularly mindful of the impact such decisions have on our working parents, and I am grateful for your cooperation as we prioritised the safety of our pupils, families, and staff.   Warm regards, Ms. V Bardsley   Head of Primary's Message   Welcome Back to the Spring Term!     Dear Parents,    We are delighted to welcome you and your children back to the Spring term! It has been a wonderful start to the new term, and the children have returned with such enthusiasm and energy—it truly sets a positive tone for the months ahead.  This Monday, we enjoyed a very special event: a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk . This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience a traditional story brought to life through singing, acting, and creativity. Moments like these not only enrich their learning but also help instil a love for the arts and storytelling.  As we begin this new term, we continue to live and learn through the Avanti Way , nurturing curiosity, respect, and joy in every aspect of school life. The start of a new term is a perfect time for fresh beginnings, growth, and new experiences. As Lord Krishna reminds us, “Whatever happened, happened for the good. Whatever is happening, is happening for the good. Whatever will happen, will also happen for the good.”   We look forward to a term filled with learning, discovery, and memorable moments for all our children. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a vibrant and nurturing community.    Warm regards,    Ms. A Thakore    Magical Moments    Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.   We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!   Sunflower     In the Sunflower room this week we have been enjoying reading the Monkey Puzzle book whilst transitioning back to routine and accessing activities based on the story book. Preschool   In Pre-school we have been exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We learned about the different things that the caterpillar ate and how he grew through the lifecycle of a butterfly.   Reception    In Reception, we have been learning all about dinosaurs. We learned about different dinosaurs and had fun acting like them by stomping our feet and making loud roars.  Year 1   The children loved becoming scientists in Science this week, identifying and classifying different materials. Then, they explored the classroom to discover which material was the most common.     Year 2     Year 2 have been exploring Money in our Maths lessons this week. They have recognised coins, counted out amounts in different ways and even challenged themselves with finding the correct amount of change. This has been a fun week of building on such important life skills such as paying for items, solving problems and saving our money. Year 3   This week, Year 3 have been learning all about radial patterns and mandalas. We have created our own beautiful concentric patterns using different shapes.     Parents Consultation Evening : 20th & 22nd January 2026 Upcoming Parents’ Evening – Early Connection, Strong Start Please book your child’s parents evening appointment via Arbor. Class Teacher will review the request and provide an alternate meeting option where possible. WOW Walk to the school We were very excited to welcome our WOW Walk to school Mascot to Avanti Fields Primary this week. Happy active travelling everyone.  Stars of the week   Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. Governments must respect the rights and responsibilities of parents to guide their child as they grow up. This links to  Remembrance Day , when we honour those who have worked — and still work — to protect others and help make the world peaceful.   Why it matters:    Everyone has the freedom to think whatever they want  Everyone should be able to enjoy their rights  Different people have different beliefs     At-home activity:   List as many religions as you can think of. However, at the beginning of this week we have noticed significant congestion in the school car park and on the road leading to the school during morning drop-off and afternoon collection times.  To help keep everyone safe and to ensure the smooth running of the school day, we kindly remind secondary parents and carers to make use of the park-and-stride arrangements , rather than attempting to drive into the school car park. This helps reduce congestion and improves safety for all members of our school community. Parents entering the car park without a valid car park pass will be challenged by school staff.   Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. Executive Principal's Message Dear Parents and Carers, It has been another busy and rewarding half term across our schools in Leicester, with many opportunities for our pupils to learn, grow and explore their learning in meaningful ways. We have also taken an important step forward by formally establishing the Leicester Learning Village, and we look ahead to the final stages of recruitment in the New Year to fully secure this exciting development.   Krishna Avanti Primary School (KAPS) Our pupils have enjoyed a wide range of enriching experiences this half term, including Odd Socks Day and Anti-Bullying Week, a Year 5 Immersive Ancient Greece Day, a Year 3 Govinda’s food workshop, and our Christingle service at St Denys’ Church. Pupils have also taken part in Year 6 Avanti Sings rehearsals, Enterprise Week (raising £398), the Christmas Fayre, and Christmas Jumper Day (raising £211).   We have greatly valued welcoming parents and carers into school for our coffee afternoon, town hall event, and a range of workshops including PSHE/RSE, Year 4 MTC, Year 6 reading, Year 2 SATs, Reception dental hygiene, and Reception Christmas carols. Thank you to those parents who were also able to contribute to our recent Section 48 inspection.   For our staff, we were inspired on our INSET day when five schools across the Trust came together for the official launch of our Reading, Writing and Oracy project, led by the Open University. Over the coming year, this project will enrich our approach to literacy, with pupils already engaging enthusiastically in a competition to design new reading spaces across the school.   Avanti Fields School (primary) Pupils at Avanti Fields Primary have also enjoyed a busy half term, taking part in Odd Socks Day and Anti-Bullying Week, a Year 3 Govinda’s food workshop, a KS1 sports festival, and Enterprise Week. Pupils also attended the Christmas Fayre raising ( £629.90) and celebrated Christmas Jumper Day raising ( £159.24)   We have been delighted to see parents and carers attend a variety of workshops and events, including Pre-school stay and play, Reception dental hygiene, Year 2 SATs, and Pre-school and Reception Christmas carols. We look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership with you in the Spring term as we support your child’s learning journey.   Staff were similarly inspired during our Trust-wide INSET day, marking the launch of the Reading, Writing and Oracy project with the Open University. This work will support high-quality teaching and learning across the school over the coming year.   Avanti Fields School (secondary) This half term, our secondary pupils have taken part in a rich range of opportunities including National Space Academy masterclasses, sporting fixtures, Anti-Bullying Week, a Year 11 DMU food trip, Year 8 Avanti Sings rehearsals, and a Celebration Achievement Awards evening. Pupils have also participated in the Year 9 Girls in Computing event, a Year 8 trip to the National Space Centre, and Christmas Jumper Day. We were pleased to welcome Year 11 parents and carers to our consultation evening, which this year returned to an in-person format and allowed for valuable face-to-face conversations. Our staff were once again inspired during the Trust INSET day for the launch of the Reading, Writing and Oracy project, which will continue to strengthen teaching and learning across the secondary phase.   I would like to thank our Avanti Fields PTFA for their continued support this term, organising community events and contributing so positively to the life of our schools.   Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication to your children. Their passion for inspiring spiritually compassionate changemakers ensures that high-quality teaching, enriching opportunities, and memorable experiences are possible for every pupil.   From everyone at the Leicester Learning Village, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.   Yours sincerely, Miss Vanessa Bardsley Executive Principal   Magical Moments    Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. That’s why we hold our first Parents’ Evening early in the academic year —to give you the opportunity to: Get to know your child’s class teacher Understand how your child has settled into their new year group Receive practical guidance on how to support their learning at home Each appointment will last no longer than 10 minutes to ensure fairness and equal time for all families. During your meeting, the teacher will share: How your child has progressed since the last report or meeting What we’ve noticed they’re excelling in —both academically and personally Their next steps , and how you can support these areas effectively at home We encourage all parents to attend, as early collaboration helps set the tone for a positive and productive year ahead. Class Teacher will review the request and provide an alternate meeting option where possible. Please Note: Administrative office days and hours may vary during the term break. If you experience any difficulty with meeting bookings, kindly contact the school via email. Safeguarding Reminder for Parents and Carers   We kindly remind all parents and carers to be mindful when waiting on the school premises before dismissal time. To support our safeguarding procedures, we ask that parents and carers do not speak to or interact with any children through the school gates or fencing during learning time.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a safe and focused learning environment for all pupils.  Readathon   We are running a Read for Good Readathon and we’d love your child to join in.  This will take place from Monday 10th November - Monday 9th February.    The charity Read for Good encourages children to read through its unique motivational approach that inspires reluctant readers to give reading a go and keen readers to read more widely. Pupils can choose whatever they want to read - from comics to classics and audiobooks to blogs - they are not being assessed, it’s all about reading for fun! And, they are motivated to read because the money they raise in sponsorship helps to provide a regular supply of brand new books and a resident storyteller to every major children’s hospital in the UK.  All you have to do is:  Take a look at what they plan to read, or help them complete their list of books to read. Remember they can read whatever they want: books, e-books, poetry, comics – anything goes! Sharing books is fine too (in fact recommended!) as well as listening to audio books.  Help your child find sponsors among family and friends. The easiest way to sponsor a child is by clicking the link https://readforgood.givingpage.org/readathon?custom_cFcFTPsmi6mdGDd=0016M00002WX7j2QAD&custom_R6cC4OEw44xOaz6=null   Send in your sponsorship money as you collect it and give it to your class teacher. Don't forget, the last day to bring in your sponsorship money is Monday 9th February.  Please support your child’s sponsored read as much as you can. They’ll be helping kids in hospitals get books, as well as helping themselves, and our school receives free books worth 20% of our grand sponsorship total, so there really is something in it for everyone.  Christmas Fayre and Enterprise   Thank you so much for joining with our Christmas fayre this week, we hope that you enjoyed the stalls. As part of enterprise week, children made items to sell at the fayre. The winning year group with the highest taking was Year 3 and raised £90. We raised £629.90 in total which will be used to support with reading projects.     Christmas Fair- Elf winner   Well done to Riya in Reception Buttercup Class for guessing the correct name of the Elf- Bumblee! 😊 Thank you to all of those families that took part in our Elf challenge.    NHS Healthy together Newsletter Please see link below for Healthy together Newsletter for further information Stars of the week   Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. Governments have a big job: to make sure all children can grow up safe, healthy, and happy. Schools, families, and communities also share that responsibility by treating everyone fairly and speaking up for what’s right. Learning about Human Rights Day helps children see that fairness and respect are global — and that they can make a difference, even in small ways.   At home activity:   Fairness in Action Jar:  As a family, notice moments of fairness, kindness, or speaking up for what’s right throughout the week.  Write them on slips of paper and add them to a jar.  At the end of the week, read them together and celebrate your “Fairness Champions”! Our students have taken part in an exceptional range of enriching opportunities - extracurricular and super curricular activities, educational trips, sports fixtures, House competitions, PTFA community events and volunteering projects. We also enjoyed celebrating our students’ successes at the awards evening and KS3 and KS4 celebration breakfasts, which recognised their hard work and commitment to our school values.  Thank you to all families who attended the Year 11 parents’ evening. It was a highly successful event, with positive feedback from students, parents and staff alike. We are pleased to confirm that Year 11 parents’ evenings will continue to be held in-person to support these meaningful conversations about progress and next steps.  As we enter the festive period, I wish all our families a wonderful Christmas. Students are now moving through the lines much more quickly, which means they have more time to enjoy their meals and socialise with friends. The smoother flow has also helped our catering team and midday supervisors serve students more efficiently, creating a calmer and more organised lunchtime experience for everyone.  Thank you for your continued support as we make these improvements to enhance the school day for our students. Christmas Card Competition    The Spanish Department recently took part in a University of Warwick competition inviting students to design a Christmas card in any foreign language. We received a wonderful range of creative entries, with cards in Korean, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, and Swahili. Thank you to all who participated. We were really impressed by your creativity and enthusiasm. All students have been given an R2 award for participating and results will be announced after the holiday.   Year 8 National Space Centre Visit    A group of year 8 students visited the National Space Centre on Monday 8 th December. They explored and learned about various planetary objects and watched an 'astronaut' planetarium show! The students absolutely enjoyed the day and some mentioned they wished to have stayed longer.     Artwork    The art department would like to share some fantastic Year 9 paintings from this term celebrating Leicester architecture and local artists.       Gratitude flourishes into action as Year 7 students embrace the Avanti Way   We are delighted to share the ongoing success of the Gratitude Club, which empowers our Year 7 students to practise thankfulness in meaningful ways. Each Thursday lunchtime, students gather in the school library to reflect on what they are grateful for, beautifully demonstrating the values at the heart of the Avanti Way.  Over the course of the club more than 50 students have taken part, (with more than half attending regularly). Their reflections have been written on colourful leaves and added to our growing Gratitude Tree. The messages include appreciation for family, friends, teachers, our school community, and the everyday blessings we often overlook, such as clean air, a warm home, nourishing food, and free education. Many students expressed how mindful they feel knowing that many people around the world live without these basic needs.  It has been heart-warming to see students thank their peers for supporting them during difficult moments, building resilience and nurturing positive relationships. The energy in the room each week has been joyful and uplifting - a true testament to the power of gratitude in action.  Year 7 Drama   Our Year 7 students have been working hard to develop their understanding of key Drama vocabulary linked to voice and choral speaking. To help commit the words and definitions to memory, they designed vibrant and informative posters that showcase their creativity and commitment. These fantastic examples reflect not only their hard work but also their enthusiasm for learning and collaboration in Drama.  Parents and Carers resources for Spring Term Please see link below the live parents and carers webinar for further information and registrations. • Secondary Parents' Bulletin 05.12.25

Head of Secondary's Message Dear Parents and Carers Last week we held our annual Awards and Celebration Evening, where we came together to recognise students who have shown exceptional commitment to the Avanti virtues of Educational Excellence, Character Formation, and Spiritual Insight. The event was a joyful celebration of our school community, featuring impressive musical performances from our current students and inspirational speeches from our alumni. It was a proud moment for all involved.  We were equally delighted to see many of our students supporting the PTFA with the annual Tesco food collection. The positive feedback we received highlighted their kindness, maturity, and sense of responsibility; qualities we are proud to see them develop at Avanti Fields.  This term has also seen a range of exciting House competitions, with students embracing the opportunity to take part, challenge themselves, and earn points for their Houses. Their energy and enthusiasm have been wonderful to observe.  Next week marks a busy and exciting end to the term, with our KS3 and KS4 Celebration breakfasts, celebration assemblies, Christmas Jumper day, and a range of festive fundraising events. Please ensure you have read the arrangements for Christmas Jumper Day, and we look forward to raising an impressive amount for our chosen charities together.  Warm regards   Ms N Kholia  Calendar Updates   Monday 8 th December: Y8 National Space centre trip  Wednesday 10 th December:  Former Y11 GCSE certificate collection (16:00 – 18:00)  Thursday 11 th December: Christmas Jumper day   Department / Students Updates Girls in Computing event The Girls in Computing event on Monday 1 st December 2025 was a real success. This was a national initiative to encourage more females into the field of Computing and Computer Science. The aim of this event was to inspire and increase girls' interest in Computer Science. During the session, students explored a range of computing-related careers and salaries, understood current digital threats, and learnt about influential female role models who have made significant contributions to the field of computing and shaped the way we live today.   It was a valuable opportunity for the girls to broaden their understanding of computing and its impact on the modern world and make informed decisions for their GCSE options. The final task was to come up with a new innovative idea using technology that can positively impact our lives and present this idea to the group of 88 girls. The girls worked really well in teams and showed initiative, great IT skills and communication skills. The winning team will receive a £10 amazon voucher each.   Christmas Jumper day arrangements and expectations: Thursday 11 th December  Students can wear an appropriate Christmas jumper (no need for the blazer, shirt or tie and must wear a t-shirt underneath).  Students must wear their school grey trousers/skirts with school shoes.  Hoodies and any other banned school items are not permitted .  Please be reminded students must wear their lanyards (this is important for lunchtime to ensure a smooth lunch service). Traditional Christmas lunch will be served at each lunch queue and light lunch meals queue will also be available. Members of the school council will be coming round form rooms to collect donations before Thursday 11 th December. The expected donation is £1 . This year the money raised will be split between NSPCC and LOROS.   Bhagavad Gita Jayanti This week marks Bhagavad Gita Jayanti , a special day celebrated by many Hindu families around the world. It commemorates the moment when the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita  were spoken—timeless guidance on duty, resilience, compassion and inner peace. The Bhagavad Gita  is often described as a “manual for life.” Its message encourages young people and adults alike to act with integrity, make positive choices, and stay steady even when challenges arise. Many families observe this day through reflection, reading a favourite verse, or simply taking a moment for gratitude and mindfulness. At school, we use this opportunity to reinforce the values of self-discipline, respect, and purposeful action , which align closely with the Gita’s messages. It is a meaningful reminder that wisdom from ancient traditions can still support our students’ wellbeing and personal growth today.   Chemistry Spelling Bee competition  We would like to recognise all the students who took part in this term’s Chemistry Spelling Bee. Each of them showed focus, confidence and commitment throughout the competition.  The top three students in every year group who achieved the highest scores were placed first, second and third after a demanding set of subject specific spelling rounds.    Year 7   Year 8   Year 9   Year 10   1 st Place   Nomit M  Krivi J  Mayan M  Shlok S  2 nd Place   Aarna P  Harteg S  Harikrishnan A N  Manaank P  3 rd Place   Kriyansh C  Aarya S  Anay M  Harnum P  Thank you to all students who took part and represented their year group with commitment, helping build a strong learning culture across the school. Mrs Trivedi and Ms Kealy   Student Art work celebrations  The art department would love to celebrate the work of Khushi D  (7 Water) who has shown us the beautiful work she creates at home as well as working very hard in lessons. Well done Khushi! The Eco Group Updates The ECO group (which is made up of volunteers and Duke of Edinburgh pupils) have been toiling away in the garden this month getting everything ready for next spring. They have cleared out the beds, added new compost and started to plant bulbs ready for the spring. Hopefully come March or April next year we will have fresh flowers such as daffodils, tulips and narcissa that can be put in the worship hall. Our next job is to bed down the beloved strawberry bed to see if we can have a bigger harvest than we did this year. Before that though, the hyacinths that were planted with the Friday morning garden club, which are starting to sprout in the green house. It will be a surprise to see what colour they bloom, but we are hoping for purple and white.   The school council are again busy at work this half term working on their individual projects. The Spirituality Committee are organising the first ever podcast from the school where they will be talking about what spirituality means to them as well as interviewing different members of staff to get their opinions. The Diversity Committee are busy breaking down barriers to help everyone feel valued. Their first event is coming up soon which is focusing on helping the year 7s and 8s make friends and find common ground. The Eco Committee are planning how to make our environment better for all and achieve ECO Flag status. The younger members of the group will be starting their litter pick initiative soon with volunteers from every form. • Primary Parent's Bulletin 05.12.25

Head of Primary's Message Dear Parents and Carers,  I hope you are well. Since September 2024, I have had the privilege of supporting Krishna Avanti Primary School whilst continuing in my role here at Avanti Fields as Head of Primary. As you are aware, this arrangement was an interim solution to help both schools develop a more aligned approach. I am pleased to share that the Trust is now moving forward with a long-term leadership model, which will include two separate Heads of Primary across our primary schools. As part of this structure, I will return to my substantive role as Head of Primary for Avanti Fields full time. A new Head of Primary will be appointed for Krishna Avanti, following the Trust’s recruitment process in the Spring term, at which time we will notify you when I transition back to Avanti Fields. This approach will further strengthen the provision in both schools and ensure continued, dedicated leadership as we move closer to becoming a full primary school. Over the past year, we have worked hard to standardise our practice and continue to develop our Avanti village model. I am very proud of the progress we have made, and I look forward to seeing this vision grow even further in the months and years ahead. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.   Some exciting events coming up in December:     10th December – Reception Christmas Carol Performance and Christmas Parent/Carer Workshop, 1:00pm – 2:45pm  11th December – Preschool Christmas Parent/Carer Workshop, 2:00pm – 3:00pm  11th December – Whole School Christmas Fayre, 3:00pm – 4:00pm    The parent/carer workshops are a fantastic opportunity to get more involved in school life and see how your child is learning. The Christmas Fayre is a fundraising event to support the school – we hope parents can join us and appreciate all those who have supported in the past. We are looking forward to another fun, family-friendly celebration!  House point updates:     As part of our behaviour policy, we celebrate the virtues of The Avanti Way—such as respect, gratitude, self-discipline, and empathy. Pupils are awarded house points when they demonstrate these qualities in their daily lives. I am delighted to announce that this term’s winning house is  Water!   Next week the winning house team will enjoy a special reward: the chance to celebrate their success by making their own milkshakes, well deserved after all their efforts this term. Sunflower room     In the Sunflower Room this week, we made gingerbread men from salt dough as part of our story theme.  Preschool    Pre-school have been sorting out land and sea animals. This has helped them understand which habitats the different animals live in.  Reception   This week in Reception, we have been drawing maps of our classroom and using them to navigate to different spots.    Year 1   In Design and Technology, our Year 1 children explored the magic of mechanisms and sliders. They learned how both the bridge slider and slot slider work, then designed and created their own moving pictures. Their imagination and excitement shone through as they brought their designs to life!    Year 2   Year 2 have delved into a world of Poetry this term and have been discovering how to write their very own poem based on ‘A recipe to make a Wolf’. The children enjoyed performing their poetry aloud and embracing their role as a Poet.      Year 3   Year 3 have enjoyed taking part in a Pop Art workshop this term! We’ve learnt all about contrasting and complementing colours and applied this to four images.       Bhagavad Gita Jayanti This week celebrated Gita Jayanti, the anniversary of the day Sri Krishna spoke Bhagavad-gita to His friend Arjuna. Bhagavad refers to God, Krishna and Gita means song. Bhagavad-gita, therefore means the Song of God.    Arjuna presents himself to Krishna as someone who is confused about his duty, fearful of the future results of his work and full of grief anticipating the experience of loss. These emotions represent our human emotions that challenge us from time to time. Due to these emotions, decision making becomes a struggle and clear direction some what blurry. In Arjuna's situation, he called upon Krishna, who was right there with him and asked for His guidance. This guidance is captured in the 700 verses of the Bhagavad-gita as a manual for life, not only for Arjuna but for each and everyone of us. Krishna speak to us individual His personal instruction.    The wisdom Krishna speaks to Arjuna, is of five distinct subject matters. Our Year 1 students explored these five teachings:   I am a little spark of life. (Jīva) We are more than our physical appearance or mental capacity. The very essence of our self is spiritual, a spark of life that lives before and beyond the life of this body. We are eternal servants of God, Krishna.  My actions make things happen. (Karma) Our thoughts shape our actions. Once we desire to do something and act on it, we set into motion a chain of consequence and reaction. The quality of human consciousness depends on how responsible we become for our action. The more evolved we are, the more responsible we become. Krishna advises in the Gita to choose actions carefully and ensure they are not selfish or harmful but spiritual and uplifting.  Nature is Krishna’s world. (Prakṛti) This world is created by and belongs to God. It is offered to use as a resource for us to use and engage for acts of sacrifice, austerity and charity. The influence of nature impacts our choices. We can be inert in which we don't care for actions or their results. We can be selfish and don't care how our actions impacts others. Or, we can be thoughtful and considerate of making the right choices that are good for us and good for others.  Time helps me grow. (Kāla) With the rising of the sun and its setting, a day is lost. What did we do with the last 24hours? Time is the all-powerful energy of God that is gradually taking everything away. It is therefore, our most valuable resource. Daily we have 1440 minutes. Let's use them wisely in the pursuit of the eternal nature.  Krishna guides everything. (Īśvara)  Krishna reveals the nature of God, He from Whom everything comes, in Whom everything rest and into Whom everything returns. Krishna is present in nature, lives in the heart of all beings, is worship in different sacred places and lives beyond this world in His eternal kingdom.   These 5 topics make up the subject matter of the Bhagavad-gita. If you're interested in learning more, in reading this great book or would like to take a course in it, please write to Mr Gajjar, our PRE lead on pgajjar@avanti.org.uk     Christmas Fayre and Grotto – Thursday 11 th December     We are delighted to invite you to our  Christmas Fayre on Thursday 11th December from 3:00–4:00pm . Students were given an insight into life at university, including a detailed Q&A session with current De Montfort students where they could ask any question – including about student finance, pastoral support and course selection.      Some of our students were brave enough to ask a question in front of 180 other students from schools across the county – including Shreyansi T. asking the highlight question of the event that generated a lot of great responses – ‘Why should I come and study at your university?’!     Our students earned stars for asking great questions during the careers fair, with most of our students earning enough stars to enter a prize draw. The lucky winner was none other than our very own Abinav V., who is the proud recipient of a £30 voucher – well done Abinav!     The event gave our students an awareness of how many options are available in higher education, and that we are fortunate to have high-quality opportunities in our own city. The highlight for many students was being able to speak to current students about their experiences, and gain insight into what University life could really be like. Well done to all of our Year 11s who attended for your engagement and enthusiasm!      Christmas Lunch Thursday 11 th  December 2025 We will be serving Christmas lunch on Thursday 11 th December which will include a traditional Christmas lunch. Head of Primary's Message Dear Parents and Carers,    As we approach the festive season, I am delighted to share with you some of the special events we have lined up in the coming weeks for our school community. We will have Christmas workshop and Christmas Fayre, a highlight of the year, offering festive stalls, games and opportunities for families to come together.  We will celebrate Christmas Jumper Day where children (and staff!) are invited to wear a fun festive jumper in return for a small donation for Save the Children charity. Then we’ll round off the term with our Christmas party, complete with treats, music and plenty of seasonal cheer.    As we approach the festive season, we know many of you would like to send Christmas cards to each other. As part of the Avanti Way, we want to uphold our core principle of:  Strengthening connection.  In Strengthening connections, we believe all life is interconnected and therefore strive to care for and respect all life- human, animal and plant- living in a way that causes the least possible harm.  With the above in mind, we are asking all pupils who would like to send cards to their peers and teachers to send  a single card addressed to the whole class , rather than individual ones. This may even be a home-made card! Teachers will share and display these cards in their classrooms wishing all pupils a Merry Christmas.  We want to thank you in advance for supporting in making our world a better place to live in.    Warm regards, Ms. A Thakore Parent Survey: We kindly invite all parents to complete a short survey and share your thoughts about our school. • Primary Parent's Bulletin 20.11.25

Head of Primary's Message Dear Parents and Carers,    As we move into the colder winter months, we know that colds and coughs are common. While we understand that children may sometimes be unwell, it is important that they attend school every day unless they are genuinely too ill to come. Every day counts towards their learning and development.  At our school, we follow The Avanti Way, which values education, personal responsibility, and community. Working together in partnership with parents helps us support your child’s learning and well-being.  Here is the current attendance for each class:  Acorn Class:   96% Walnut Class:   95.80% Buttercup Class:   95.60% Daisy Class:   98.50% Bluebell Class:   95.60% Snowdrop Class:   95.10% Daffodil Class:   95.60% Tulip Class:   95.80% Cedar Class:   95.90% Chestnut Class:   100%   Current Leader board Winner:   O ur current leaders are Daffodil class closely followed by Bluebell class . We are pleased to announce that we have appointed our Early Years Lead and STEM Lead. A huge congratulations to Miss Athwal for being appointed as Early Years Lead and Miss Vernon for being appointed as STEM Lead. Our Lead's have shared a message for you below, we look forward to supporting their journey's here at Avanti Fields.    The early years is truly where my heart lies as a practitioner, I have enjoyed every moment of teaching within the early years and each year my passion grows. As I step into the role of Early Years Lead, I am committed to creating a nurturing, engaging, and high-quality learning environment for our youngest learners to ensure they have a great early years experience. I look forward to growing our children, collaborating with our pre-school and reception parents and growing our school. - Miss Athwal    I am passionate about STEM within primary education as the world needs future scientists, engineers, mathematicians and problem solvers for the ever-changing world that we live in. I am keen to make sure that we make Primary STEM hands on and exciting so that children want to discover more about these subjects as their educational journey continues.  I am looking forward to being part of the leadership team and growing Primary STEM within Avanti Fields. - Miss Vernon     Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your child attends school regularly. Every day makes a difference.  Warm regards, Ms. A Thakore Parent Survey: We kindly invite all parents to complete a short survey and share your thoughts about our school. Your feedback helps us ensure we’re providing the very best experience for your children. This is your opportunity to tell us what you value and what you feel could be improved. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.   We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!   Sunflower room      This week in Sunflower Room we have be making salt dough gingerbread men and identifying their body parts.   Preschool   Pre-school have been learning about melting and freezing. We used our senses to explore natural materials.     Reception    In Reception this week we had special visitors come in. They talked all about the importance of dental health. We even got to practise our brushing skills on two special dragon friends, and we took home a gift to help us keep our teeth clean. Year 1   Year 1 enjoyed celebrating Odd Socks Day as part of Anti-Bullying Week. We talked about how our differences make us special and linked this to the British Value of  Mutual Respect . The children decorated individual jigsaw pieces to show what makes them unique and when joined together we represent our caring classroom community.    Year 2   Year 2 had a fantastic time taking a tour of the school and locating different physical and human features! What human and physical features do you know about?   Year 3   Year 3 enjoyed taking part in a food and nutrition workshop led by Govinda’s. We learnt all about the importance of a balanced diet, and all about food and nutrition. We also smelt and identified different spices. We made a yummy Greek Salad. Can you have a go at eating a balanced diet at home?      Road Safety Reminder   We would like to remind all families of the importance of using the designated zebra crossings when moving around the school site. While it may sometimes feel quicker to take alternative routes, using the zebra crossing is the safest option for both children and adults. Please help us model safe behaviour for our pupils by following this guidance at all times.    Parking and Traffic Flow   To support a safe and steady flow of traffic, access to the car park is limited to parents of children in Preschool to Year 2, or to those who hold a valid car park pass. Parents of children in older year groups should only enter the site if they also have a younger sibling. We kindly ask all families to follow these rules to ensure the safety of everyone on site.  We are aware that congestion can build up during busy times. To help ease pressure and promote healthier travel habits, we continue to encourage families to “park and stride” whenever possible and to take part in our whole-school “Walk to School” initiative.  Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in keeping our school community safe.    WOW Walk to School     ‘WOW Walk to School’ has been very successful so far amongst our Year 2 and Year 3 pupils where families should aim to arrive at school ‘actively’ at least once a week. For example; this could be by walking, scooting, riding a bike or even park and stride (park where you cannot see the school and walk the rest of the way). Each day the children track how they arrive at school and if active at least once a week for a whole month, they will receive a monthly badge to recognise their achievements. This is a fantastic way of staying fit and healthy as well as supporting our school values in caring for our environment. Thank you to those families who have shown a real effort in supporting this initiative wherever possible, you are making a real difference. The figures show a huge decrease of families driving to school moving from 90% in September to 53% in November. Let’s keep walking!       Year 2 SATs meeting reminder:     Year 2 parents are invited to join the SATS workshop on Thursday 27 th November at 3.00 -3.30pm in the Primary Hall. Please collect your child and then wait at the school office for staff to let you in. Head of Primary's Message This week, the children have taken part in a very successful Anti-Bullying Week, beginning with our fun and vibrant Odd Socks Day. It was wonderful to see so many pupils celebrating what makes us all unique. Throughout the week, the children have been reflecting on the importance of kindness, respect and empathy, and exploring how their words and actions can make a positive difference to others. We also marked Remembrance Day with thoughtful discussions across the school. The children showed great maturity as they learned about the significance of remembrance and took time to reflect on those who have served and sacrificed. Thank you for your continued support in helping us nurture a caring and respectful school community. 🧦  Odd Socks Day – Monday 10th November  🧦    What a fantastic Odd Socks Day we had on Monday 10th November! This right applies at all times, for example during immigration proceedings, housing decisions or the child’s day-to-day home life.   Anti-bullying Week is held each year in November and is a time for all of us to think about how we can develop positive relationships in school based on dignity and respect, take a proactive approach to preventing bullying and also support people who have faced or are facing bullying. We spoke about what bullying is, how it can make people feel, and what we can do about it.   Here is a linked activity you can do at home:   Watch this video  about Topsy and Tim helping their classmate.
