WOW Travel (KS1 and KS2)     Well done for a fantastic start to the term with travelling to school in an active way. We are truly grateful for your support in ensuring we keep our school car park safe and enabling our pupils to exercise in a fun way!  We spent some of this first week back at the top of the local authority leader board for travelling actively to school each day- let's keep it up!  Also- a huge well done to Chestnut Class (Year 3 for being top of the leaderboard in our school during March). The class at the top of the school leaderboard each month is awarded with Strider the Mascot teddy to keep in their class for the whole month Stars of the week   Each week, we celebrate a pupil who truly embodies the values of the Avanti Way—whether it’s showing compassion, demonstrating self-discipline, striving for excellence, or fostering spiritual insight. This recognition is more than just good work—it's about living our values and inspiring others to do the same.   Acorn Aara for having a great first week at school and showing courage when facing challenges. .  Walnut    Kayan for coming back to school with resilience. Well done Chestnut Heer – For always contributing great ideas and trying hard to show the Avanti Way! Well done   Rights Respecting School information     Every week, children will be learning about an ‘Article of the Week’. This will help our children to learn and develop an understanding about the Convention on the Rights of the Child articles.   🌺 Rights Respecting Article of the week: Article 14 – Freedom of Thought, Belief and Religion   Every child has the right to think freely, choose their own beliefs and practise a religion—or not practise one—while being guided by their parents and carers as they grow and develop. This right also includes respecting the beliefs, opinions and identities of others.    Why it matters:   Article 14 matters because children should be free to explore their ideas, values and beliefs in a safe and supportive environment. When children can express what they think and believe, they develop confidence, independence and a strong sense of identity. Respecting different beliefs also builds understanding, empathy and harmony within communities. In a Rights Respecting School, encouraging thoughtful discussions and celebrating different beliefs helps everyone feel valued and included.    At home activity:   Create a “Belief and Values Reflection” . This could be a poster, a paragraph, or a short video. Describe something that is important to you—this could be a belief, a value, a cultural practice, or something you feel strongly about. Explain why it matters to you and how it connects to Article 14 . Then reflect on how respecting different beliefs helps your school community be more welcoming and rights respecting. Head of Secondary's Message Welcome back to all students and staff. I hope you and your families had a restful and enjoyable Easter break.  It has been a real pleasure to begin the new half term by supporting Mrs Kansara with the Head Boy and Head Girl interviews. We have been impressed by the thoughtfulness of their ideas and the way they all reflected the Avanti Way in their responses.  As we move into the summer term, we begin the GCSE examination season. This is an important time for our Year 11 students, and we thank you for your continued support at home in helping them to prepare, revise and stay focused. Our GCSE Spanish speaking exams are already underway and we wish all students the very best.   A reminder that Year 11 students will remain in school and attend all lessons up until the May half term. After this point, they will begin study leave, using their time to prepare for their remaining examinations. Further details regarding the study leave arrangements and revision support have already been communicated to Year 11 parents and carers.  This week, our Year 8 students enjoyed the annual Avanti Quest residential to Radhadesh. The epic has inspired countless poets and storytellers, and its influence is even seen in modern narratives of love and heroism — from Star Wars  to Avatar .   In the Ramayana, Rama leaves his beloved city of Ayodhya, accompanied by his dear wife, Sita, and his brother, Lakshman. They take up a life of exile in the forest until Sita is abducted by the evil demon-king Ravana. Rama and Lakshman then form an alliance with the monkey army, led by the great warrior Hanuman. Together they defeat Ravana’s forces, and Rama returns to take his place as king, ruling as a shining example of dharma and righteousness.   It is a powerful and timeless story — full of romance, adventure, chivalry, humour, tragedy, and triumph. Whenever God appears in this world, especially in a human form like that of Lord Rama, He teaches through His own example how to live an ideal life.   One of the greatest lessons we can learn from Lord Rama is selflessness. In every circumstance, He placed others before Himself. As a son, He accepted exile to uphold His father’s honour. As a husband, He spared no effort in rescuing Sita from Ravana. As a king, He embodied the principle of servant-leadership, placing the needs of His people above His own desires.   In this way, Lord Rama naturally embodies the very qualities we seek to cultivate in our own lives — respect, self-discipline, courage, integrity, empathy, and gratitude. These are not taught merely through words, but through lived example. He showed that a true leader is, in fact, a servant of all.    In our own lives, we are all leaders in some capacity — as teachers, parents, managers, or guides. The example of Lord Rama reminds us that the highest form of leadership is to lead by example: through selflessness, humility, and genuine care for others. May we strive to follow such a noble example, and in doing so, inspire future generations through our own actions.   yad yad ācarati śreṣṭhastat tad evetaro janaḥsa yat pramāṇaṁ kurutelokas tad anuvartate “Whatever action a great person performs, others follow. And whatever standards they set by their example, the whole world pursues.” Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 3, Verse 21   World Book Day Door Competition A huge well done to all students and staff who took part in this year’s World Book Day door competition. The creativity on display was fantastic, with classrooms transformed into scenes inspired by a wide range of much-loved books. From imaginative designs to impressive attention to detail, the effort across the school was brilliant to see. The photos capture just a snapshot of the high standard and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved. Thank you to all who contributed and to Miss Monia for organising a great competition – a wonderful celebration of reading and creativity! Year 7 Year 8 Year 9 Year 10 Year 11 Workshops by Leicester City Youth Service As part of the PSHE curriculum, there will be workshops delivered by the Youth Service.  The workshops are aimed to educate young people on the laws and effects of knife crime and to develop knowledge and safety.  Subjects covered will include joint enterprise and the impact on victims, families and the wider society.  We are very excited to welcome the Youth Workers into Avanti Fields and hope that the students find the workshops interact and informative.  The workshops will form part of the usual daily timetable and will not affect start time, break, lunch or home time.  Each tutor group will attend 1 x 55-minute session.  Workshops are designed to be age appropriate and tailored to each year group.  The final workshops for Year 7 will take place on Wednesday 15 th April. Head of Primary's Message Dear Parents and carers, As we reach the end of a joyful and enriching Spring term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many celebrations and experiences that have brought our community together.  This half term has been particularly special as we marked Gaura Purnima , enjoyed a vibrant Reading Week , and came together for our colourful Holi celebrations. Each of these moments has offered our children the opportunity to learn not only through books and lessons, but through shared experiences that nurture character, culture and community.  Our celebration of Gaura Purnima gave pupils the opportunity to reflect on devotion, kindness and humility. During Reading Week, we celebrated the power of stories to inspire imagination, empathy and wisdom. Holi brought great joy and energy to our school, reminding us of the triumph of good over evil and the importance of unity and new beginnings.  These celebrations beautifully reflect The Avanti Way — living with respect, integrity, self-discipline and a deep sense of care for others. The teachings of Lord Krishna remind us to act with compassion, to fulfil our responsibilities with sincerity, and to see the divine value in every individual. It has been heartwarming to see our pupils embody these values in their conduct, enthusiasm and relationships with one another.  I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our staff for their dedication and care in creating such meaningful experiences, and to you, our parents and carers, for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are nurturing not only successful learners, but thoughtful and principled young people.  I wish you all a peaceful and restful break and look forward to welcoming you back for the Summer term.  With warmest wishes,   Ms. A Thakore  Gates Timing and Parking Please see below and gates times for Summer term. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.   We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community!   Sunflower    In the Sunflower room this week we have been getting busy and exploring in construction, building tall and short towers using Lego, large foam blocks and wooden blocks. The children have enjoyed building but also watching it fall over.       Preschool     In Pre School we have been practising writing our name. We learnt how to hold a pencil and use prewriting shapes to know which way the letters go.        Reception   In Reception, we took part in a fun food workshop where we explored our five senses—taste, touch, sight, hearing and smell. We had the chance to try a variety of foods and played exciting games, such as guessing different food items blind folded.  Year 1   Year 1 had a fantastic time on their trip to Rockingham Castle! The children enjoyed learning about the history of the castle and discovering what life was like in the past. They had great fun exploring the beautiful gardens, where they took part in an exciting scavenger hunt. It was a wonderful experience for everyone, and the children represented the school brilliantly.    Year 2   Year 2 had a wonderful time exploring Impressionism as part of creating art in Computing. They were inspired by Artists such as William Morris and Piet Mondrian. Look at some of their fantastic designs...         Year 3   Year 3 had a wonderful time at the Think Tank Museum. The explored history and science, but their favourite part was the Science Garden for sure! Here the explored how water can be transferred to create sounds, motion and music!       Appearance of Sri Rama - Ram Navami   Lord Rama, the Supreme Lord, appears in this world in a human form to teach us the ideal standard of character. Revered as Maryāda Puruṣottama - the perfect embodiment of righteous conduct - Rama shows us what it means to live with integrity in every role we hold. As a son, he honoured his father’s word without hesitation. As a husband, he remained deeply devoted and loyal. As a king, he placed the wellbeing of his people above his own comfort. His life is not just a story from the past; it is a living example of how virtue can guide our decisions, even when the path is difficult.   What makes Lord Rama truly inspiring is not that his life was easy, but that it was filled with challenges. Exiled to the forest, separated from his family, and faced with powerful adversaries - each situation tested his strength and resolve. Yet, in every moment, Rama chose dharma: to act with truth, courage, empathy, and self-discipline. He shows us that challenges are not obstacles to our growth, but opportunities to rise into a higher expression of our character.   For our Avanti community, Lord Rama’s appearance is a reminder that each of us can strive to live with purpose and virtue. Whether in the classroom, at home, or with friends, we are constantly faced with choices. Rama’s life encourages us to pause and ask: “What is the right thing to do?” When we act with honesty, kindness, and devotion, we develop the strength to overcome difficulties and contribute positively to the world around us. In this way, our conduct itself becomes a celebration, victory of wisdom over ignorance. The festival usually falls in March or April and takes place on the ninth day ( Navami ) of the month of Chaitra, during the spring season. It marks the birth of Lord Rama, who is widely regarded as an ideal king, son and role model, known for his righteousness ( dharma ), courage and compassion. Rama Navami is closely linked to the story of the Ramayana , which tells how Lord Rama defeated the demon king Ravana, symbolising the victory of good over evil . The festival is traditionally observed through: Fasting and prayer Recitation of the Ramayana Bhajans (devotional singing) Temple worship and community celebrations Rama Navami serves as a reminder of the importance of living a life guided by truth, duty and moral integrity, inspiring individuals to act with kindness, courage and respect towards others. Gratitude the Avanti Way – Mother’s Day Celebrated with a Gold Leaf  We are delighted to share the ongoing success of the Gratitude Club, which is part of a whole-school initiative to empower students to practise thankfulness in meaningful ways. Each Thursday lunchtime, students gather in the school library to reflect on what they are grateful for, beautifully demonstrating the values at the heart of the Avanti Way. Last week, the Gratitude Club marked Mother’s Day with a special lunchtime celebration focused on giving thanks to the important mother figures in students’ lives. More than 25 students attended and took part in a heartfelt activity, writing thoughtful messages of appreciation on gold leaves. Students dedicated their messages to their mums, aunties, grandmas, and to someone who is like a mother figure in their lives. Each message expressed thankfulness for the kindness, care, love, and support these special people show every day. The gold leaves were then taken home as a meaningful keepsake - a simple but powerful way for students to say thank you and to celebrate Mothering Sunday with love and gratitude. Workshops by Leicester City Youth Service As part of the PSHE curriculum, there will be workshops delivered by the Youth Service. Head of Primary's Message Dear Parents and carers, As we look ahead to the final week of term, there is a wonderful sense of excitement in school. We are very much looking forward to our Easter Bonnet competitions, the parent workshops, and of course, our Holi Festival celebrations. These events always bring our community together, and it will be fantastic to round off the term with such positive experiences for our children and families. This week has also been filled with joy and generosity. It was lovely to see children come together and raise money for Comic Relief. We are still finalising the total amount raised and look forward to sharing this with you next week. Thank you, as always, for your incredible support. It has also been lovely to see families enjoying the Book Fair. Promoting a love of reading is something we value deeply, and we hope that the excitement around books continues well beyond school. Thank you for joining us in fostering such enthusiasm for reading. A gentle reminder to all parents and carers: please leave the school premises promptly after collecting your children. We kindly ask that families do not remain in the car park or allow children to run around in this busy area. This is essential for everyone’s safety—particularly with moving vehicles and increased foot traffic at the end of the day. Your cooperation helps us keep all children safe. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a vibrant and enjoyable final week of term.   Warm regards,   Ms. A Thakore  Magical Moments    Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. Whether it’s a breakthrough in understanding, a beautifully presented piece of work, or a moment of teamwork and joy, these snapshots capture the best of what learning at Avanti Fields is all about.   We’re proud to share and celebrate these moments with our school community! Head of Secondary's Message It has been another positive week at Avanti Fields. This week we took time as a staff community to reflect on the Avanti Way, including a guided meditation led by Mrs Thornton, our chaplaincy. It was a lovely moment for staff to pause and reconnect with the values that underpin our school. A heartfelt thank you to Dipak Patel for his support in helping organise Leicester’s first Bhajan Jam, which took place on Sunday 8 th   March. The event featured the phenomenal Bhavik Haria and his wonderful team of musicians and technicians, who created a truly uplifting spiritual atmosphere for everyone who attended. The evening brought together around 1300 people, including many members of our Avanti family. It was incredibly special to see children, parents and adults from across the community come together in devotion, singing bhajans and sharing in a powerful sense of unity, spirituality and joy. Events like this beautifully reflect the heart of our ethos – creating spaces where community, faith and reflection can flourish. We are also incredibly grateful to Bhavik Haria, who has made a generous donation of  £1500 to the school. We truly appreciate his continued support for our school community. Thank you once again to everyone who supported and attended this very special evening.   We are looking forward to our Year 10 Virtual Parents’ Consultation Evening on Tuesday 17 th  March (14:00 – 19:00) with an early finish for the secondary school at 12:50. A mandala represents harmony, unity, and the universe, while rangoli is a decorative art created on floors during festivals to welcome positivity and prosperity. During learnings of mandala/rangoli, art students learned about history, variations of art form, cultural and spiritual significance and science behind the art form.  Inspired by the festive season of Gaura Purnima, the students created stunning mandala design with colourful flowers and peacock feathers ( made out of Foam). The intricate patterns reflected creativity, patience, and an understanding of symmetry and balance. The vibrant floral arrangements combined with the elegance of peacock feathers added beauty and cultural richness to their artwork. • Primary Parent's Bulletin 27.02.26

Head of Primary's Message   Dear Parents and Carers,  We are delighted to welcome everyone back for the Spring 2 term and hope you all had a restful break.    We have already kicked off the term with an exciting visit from our local Fire Service, who spoke to the children about the key fundamentals of fire safety. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about how to stay safe and were especially thrilled to see the fire engine up close!    This term promises to be another fun-filled and enriching one, with education brought to life through visitors, storytellers, themed drop-down days and, for some year groups, even an exciting trip. These experiences play such an important role in deepening children’s understanding and making learning memorable.    I would like to thank all parents in advance for your continued engagement and support with these events. It is this hands-on learning, supported both at school and at home, that truly helps embed knowledge and create lifelong memories for our children.  We look forward to a fantastic term ahead!    Looking Ahead: Special Events Next Week     Next week we will be celebrating Gaura Purnima alongside Reading Week . As these special events fall within the same week, there will be two dress-up days:  3rd March – Gaura Purnima celebration and dress up   5th March – World Book Day – dress up as your favourite book character     There will also be various opportunities for parents to engage with events during the week.  A gentle reminder to parents of children in Year 3 : if you do not have a younger child in a lower year group, you are required to park and stride . Please do not use the school car park for any events. If you are asked to move your vehicle, this may result in you being late and therefore unable to attend the event.     Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in ensuring our events run smoothly for everyone.      Warm regards,   Ms. A Thakore    Magical Moments    Every two weeks, we take time to celebrate the Magical Moments happening across our school — those special sparks of curiosity, creativity, and deep learning that make each day meaningful. The word “Gaura” means golden, referring to Lord Chaitanya’s golden complexion. Gaura Purnima marks his birth in 1486 in Mayapur, India.  Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is revered by many Hindus as an incarnation of Lord Krishna who taught the importance of bhakti - loving devotion to God. He spread the practice of sankirtan , the joyful chanting of God’s names, encouraging people from all backgrounds to connect with God through humility and compassion.  His teachings emphasised:  Equality and inclusion  Service to others ( seva )  Joyful worship through music and prayer  Living with humility and kindness    Gaura Purnima is traditionally observed through prayer, devotional singing and reflection, celebrating a message of love, unity and spiritual devotion.  PRE Team     Gaura Purnima Festival Day Meal Wednesday 4 th March 2026 We will be serving festival lunch on Wednesday 4 th March 2026.
